ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Okay when you open the door it makes that 3 beeps but you want to make it flash on your keyhole with strobe lights?

Only way is unplugged it. I'll be back with information.

not on the keyhole. But yeah i wish to remove it , and modify a strobe bulb or led in its place. Personally the beeping doesnt do any thing, it tells you if a door is open on the dash. Thats all i need to tell me a door is open and not a annoying beep. A nice blinking light like the one they used on my viper alarm is better.

i think that the unit is down near the fuse box. im not sure on how you would swap it with a bulb i think its a relay type thing.

I found it. I looked in the wireing diagram in the haynes manual. Only problem now is that its located behind the whole fuse block. the chime is fairly simple, if i cant modify a led/strobe ill just remove it, no point in it for me.

Let us know how it goes!

I've also thought about modifying this before. Not getting rid of it, but changing the speaker or board to that of a later Honda. With a chime that is less irritating.
                My pictures/photos will return soon...

                    Hey guys

I made some progress i like to share.
                    I found the chimer.

The chimer is on the board of the control unit ("trw 38600-sm5-a02") located on the interior fuse block.

As you can see it is easy to access which makes things a lil bit easier to experiment with. I can even take the board completely out of the plastic case.

In this pic the large drum like object in the center is the speaker for the chimer, i see these on motherboards for pc's all the time, i usual remove them so i dont hear the boot chime, but in this case the chime is soldered in place, but no worrys here.

Im gonna go to the local junk yard and pull another one of these out to experiment with, i will take a soldering gun to it to remove it and in its place wire up a led that i can run some were on my dash.

On another note , the chime is on the control unit, meaning it does more than annoy you when a door is open, when i removed it i found that everything worked except the windows. This board controls all the window relays.

Hopefully this will work. Ill keep everyone posted on the results.

Thats the ICU which I THINK also controls the way the corners flash. I think the windshield wipers are hooked to it too.

I can't think of a way to change the tone, but hooking an LED might work. I doubt it will be very bright though as LEDs operate on current and I assume that board doesn't put much current through the speaker. A solution though would be to possibly use a relay, having the output from that beeper as the activator than putting the light on the switched circuit.

For me, I don't mind the chime and beep... Its a good reminder for me to remove the damn keys!

Now the only thing I don't like is the chiming of the headlight reminder. It doesn't seem that that sound comes from that box though as the sound is more like small bells being hit. (Sometimes mine fucks up and has like a half bell for a little while... lol)

It would be possible I think to hook a different sound up to that though as it sends the chimer a signal to turn on, and you could just hook some pre-recorded sound on a chip with a speaker hooked to it.
