ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

1992 lx automatic "D" light flashing

Ok so when I put my car in drive the "D" started flashing at me, it has happened twice now but it seems to be completely random and it goes back to normal after awhile. No check engine lights or anything. Do you think it could be a short in the wiring or is that a warning of something more serious?

1993 Ex Sedan, f23 sohc vtech swap (totaled by an excursion )

Not necessarily. I've had the "d" flash for a couple reasons. Main relay could be one. Or the TCU could be another. Or it could be something else. Main relay is fairly easy to replace but usually when that goes bad the car doesn't wanna start or something. But since yours isn't doing that I'm not sure. I would snatch up a main relay from the JY and swap it out to see if thats not the problem (even tho its from the JY your running a risk of that one being bad too, unless you wanna buy a new one and they are like 50-70 dollars if I remember correctly).

The trans might be going bad OR your TCU (only in auto cars) is going bad.. it's the computer that sits right beside the ECU on the floorboard of the passenger side.. check that then report back

Can be many things but your trans is not going out. unless you feel it shift funny? sometimes drinks spill on the Shifter and causes the D4 light to start flashing. if its not that then swap your TCM and see if that helps. also if you done work to the engine look around the trans and make sure that the green plugs are in all the way

Yes, I've been told by a couple Honda techs it's most likely the TCU module.

            life is good.

time to hit the good ol JY for another TCU. If you can't find one that will work you have two options.. either 5spd swap or get a brand new TCU from Honda.. their $400 bucks so I would do 5spd swap

haha. they aren't hard to find at all.

OP, if you're unable to find a TCU at a yard, you may be able to find one through:
                • Craigslist
                • eBay
                • Classified section of our forum (you need to earn 30 posts before doing so)

Use this DIY link to check/verify your issue:
                Automatic Transmission Codes

Good luck, and keep us posted.
                My pictures/photos will return soon...

Well it's hard to tell if it shifts funny because all the motor mounts are shot so it drops out of gear really hard, but when I took it to honda when I bought it they said the rough shifting was because of a bad transmission mount. I'm going to florida on the 2nd and I know an excellent parts yard there so I'll try changing the Tcu. Are Dx, Lx, Ex Tcu interchangeable?
