ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

    Key wont come out?

I've been having this problem where my key wont come out of the ignition. The park light don't come on either. But the car is in park because I rocked it back and forth and it is in park but the light doesn't come on. But if I let it sit for a while it will come on and I can take my keys out with no problem. any idea's what it could be...

i would check the shift selecter sw to see if it is working properly, see if the sw is not reading that you are in park then it will not let you take the key out so i would check under the center concole to check the sw.

push hard on the shifter forward.

if not then now you have keyless entry
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

if pushing on the shifter gets the key out you probally need to adjust the shifter cable.

It definately has something to do with the shifter selector. Becuase it shows its not in park. but if I wait 5 minutes or so it will go right in to park. So idk. Even If I push the shifter forward it still does not come out...... That I know of, I'll try it again.

                  Don't you love cold weather?

This often happens in the cold with my 90 DX. As others have said, pressing the shift selector all the way forward will often do the trick. In addition, I've noticed that it also tends to happen to my car when the steering wheel isn't set straight.
                  My pictures/photos will return soon...

I got it to go all the way into park by pressing the shifter all the way forward hard and turning the key at the same time. I just took it around the block and then tried that. and it worked great. Thanks for all the advice. Must be a common problem.

Key refuses to come out now!

So now I'm having this same exact problem but now that it's colder, the key almost refuses to come out of the ignition. The only time it comes right out is when I drive the car for more than a half hour and the car is completely warmed up. Sometimes, the key will only come out when I shake the shifter hard. It don't do anything when I press it forward anymore. I try pressing it hard forward everytime and I press it hard enough that it almost feels like I could break something so I stop pushing on it.

                        Any other ideas.

What switch? Is there a switch on the shifter that could be causing it. Or would the switch be on the transmission. . .

                              Post from the dead.

But I have this same issue. Car actually shifts into park.. but since the light doesn't illuminate it won't allow the key to be removed. The colder the weather/car is, the more often the problem occurs.

The only thing I can figure is that the pin inside isn't making a connection all the time to flip the actual light on. Or the wiring itself has a break or loose connection. Could this prevent the key from being removed? Or would it be better to check the transmission control unit?
