ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Strange buzzing/grinding noise during acceleration??? Please help!

I just replaced my drivers side cv joint/axle assembly. I had to drain the transaxle, so after i installed the new axle i refilled it via the transmission. My problem is that when im driving i can hear/feel a buzzing/grinding noise especially during acceleration. It also seems as if my rpms go alot higher before my car shifts. Any ideas what this problem might be stemming from? im pretty sure i installed everything correctly..

(p.s. i put 2.5 quarts in the transmission.)

Check the tranny fluid with the car running to get an accurate measure. If its low, then add some fluid.

Hmm. Try removing your Radio/Backup fuse for a few seconds to reset your ecu and tcu. Could you possibly get a recording of the sound? It may also be one of the heat shields got dislodged while you were working on it and is vibrating against the exhaust. Mine makes a buzzing/grinding noise when I accelerate, but its because my middle exhaust sheild rusted of the bolt and is sitting on my pipe.

Also just for future reference, when changing axles on an automatic cb, you don't have to drain the tranny. Fluid wont leak out. I've done both of mine and never had a single problem. This doesn't apply to manuals though, as fluid will come out on those.

On most Hondas you actually check the fluid with the motor warm and off. Most others like GM cars you check it with the motor running.

Also to the OP Make sure when you check the fluid that you push the dipstick down all the way.

What do you mean? If you look in the manual that came with your car it will tell you the same thing. Warm with the motor off.

^ the manual also suggests incorrect intervals for oil changes.

The interval is not incorrect. Honda spent thousands of dollars in R&D, I'd think that they would know what the interval needs to be. Most people change their oil at 3,000 miles, and that's fine. Heck I do too. The point is though that I'm sure company as large as Honda knows what they are doing, and wouldn't put wrong information in their manuals.

If you look in most Honda owners manuals for other cars, they also say check the fluid with the engine off. I'm pretty sure that the Haynes manual says to do the same.
