Vtec Vs. Non Vtec

Every one of those manufacturers has some type of variable valve timing.

Variable valve timing systems are EXTREMELY useful from a performance standpoint. They provide a very broad powerband. Your opinion is based on a serious lack of knowledge.

Perhaps I've done a bad thing in glorifying Bisimoto and the F22A so much. People take that to mean that the non-VTEC F22A is the end-all.

Keep in mind folks... even though I love the F22A... there's a DOHC VTEC engine under my hood, and another one being built on the side.

Yea I know they do....but I prefer non-vtec stuff then vtec or varibale timming, thats just me

But WHY? I don't understand what it is that you don't like. You say VTEC is worthless, and you seem to have next to no understanding of how it works... it's the most ignorant formulation of opinion that I have ever seen. You are certainly entitled to your opinion... but it's sad that you have no technical knowledge on which to base it. You just don't like the hype... "everyone else likes VTEC, so I don't like it"

Not getting me, I understand the concept of it and why people use it and have it in thier cars, but I like non-vtec, why? Because I do, and always will, thats what I just prefer.

And I understand that people on here like vtec, but it dosen't mean that I don't like it because they do, I totally respect other peoples opinons and point of view. And yes I said that Vtec is worthless but thats just my 02cents.

So really, your opinion isn't based on a comparison... it's based on a lack of experience. It's like saying you like a Honda better than a Ferrari, because you've never driven a Ferrari.

I can say I like Honda better than Ferrari... because I can replace my entire Honda for the price of the brakes on most Ferraris. I've never driven a Ferrari, but my opinion is based on a fact that I DO know about Ferrari. I'm not comparing their performance, comfort, reliability, etc... I'm comparing concrete, established cost. Therefore validating my opinion.

An alternate opinion, of course, could assess the performance and prestige of a Ferrari... justifying the exponentially larger cost in comparison to an old Honda. That, of course, would only be a valid opinion if the person holding it had the experience to back it up.

im not saying that i dont know anything about vtec. on the contrair my friend. i do know what and how vtec works. im also a fan of Ferrari, i know a bit about them. i can say that id never own a Ferrari because i agree with you about what you said above.

my point is that until i drive a vtec equiped car i am open to possibility that vtec is better that non-vtec. but of course that depends entierly upon my build. i will make a better opinion of it when i have driven vtec.
