ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    3500 rev limiter?

So I've been driving my 91 around for a little while and I notice that after you've been driving for a little while it won't rev past 3500 it just acts like it's hitting a rev limiter. Any ideas?

      auto or manual?

To me this sounds like some sort of sensor error, once the car warms up the car goes into closed loop...get wrong info from a sensor and either limits the rpm's via protection method and thus throws a code...or it's getting wrong info from a sensor and can't rev past that point.

      Check codes.

first of all im pretty sure he knows he has sum sort of problem.. that was a useless responce imo.. try asking questions and trying to help him out with information that you might have about the problem, other wise dont post that crap.. second... do you have a check engine light on? if so try to pull the code from it as that could be a problem of many things... a lil more info would also be helpfull

the car is going into "limp" mode because you have a problem somewhere. im sure you have a check engine light coming on too? it could be anything from something very minor (a silly sensor) to major. typically though, if its in limp mode, its something involving sensors/electrical.

Does the car run any different? or is it just not revving past 3,500?

His point was that our cars don't have carburetors... or MAF sensors. We have MAP sensors. (carb'd CBs did exist elewhere in the world, though)

Wow, this thread is gonna be pretty confusing for the guy!

MAP sensor = intake manifold air pressure sensor. Google tells me it's on the passenger side firewall, which would put it beside the fuel filter, which is under the vacuum control box, which is under the vacuum diagram on the underside of the hood.

The engine won't rev because it can't tell if it's getting air.

Mine was doing the same thing. I changed the fuel filter and it cleared up.

Thanks for all the responses. As far a code It is throwing one but my I've never really pulled an obd1 code before but I will try to do that tonite when I get off work with a guide. And as to the fuel filter I replaced that in the past month only putting 600 miles on it sense. It doesn't feel like it misses or anything but it does feel like it could run better.
