ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Engine oil in radiator/coolant?

Is this a blown head gasket or much worse? Cracked block or head perhaps? I would think it should be the other way around...I don't want to get rid of her but all the places I called want like 1600 to rebuild or about 2600 for a re-manufactured. Plus the manual trans housing has a crack that I sealed up with JB weld.

drive it till it dies, until then save up some money for a engine swap.
    wat?

Drive it?! Its going to like blow up or something. The rpms wont stay above 1000. As far as an engine swap goes it wouldn't be financially feasible as I only paid 1300 and it had 339000 miles on everything. 2600 hundred would buy a way decent car. I just want an opinion on if its a head gasket or something way worse.

Take the cap off the radiator disable the ignition and have a buddy on the crank the car while you keep an eye on the radiator. If there are bubbles coming from the radiator there is a good chance you blew the head gasket. A compression test would be a good idea right about now. In my opinion the cheapest way out is to get a used engine from www.car-part.com do it your self if possible its awesome to build something with your own two hands. You could get another trans there too.

just buy JDM engine off tiger or something. They're guaranteed under 500, they might even include a trans.

oil in the coolant. there was nasty sticky back oil in the radiator overflow and the coolant was super oily.

oh that doesnt sound good.. you could try taking apart the entire engine, cleaning it, replacing the gaskets, and putting it back together but a new engine would be way easier (and more likely to work)

you can sometimes find old rusted-to-nothing cb7s on craigslist for a couple hundred.. not really driveable but take the engine, and you have a number of other spare parts too

                    seriously? wow dude...

you need a new tranny. Never ever use jb weld like this...it's good for fixing plastic pieces like trim that have cracked...but not a crack in a tranny.

How did the tranny get cracked btw?

Since the engine is useless anyway right now...just take the head off...look for a messed up gasket...though with the jb weld trick I don't know if you should do this. Either way and f22 and a tranny will run you about $600 from a jy...I THINK...all the places I called around me want 300-400 for engines...not sure about trannies...200 maybe?

Honestly, I think your most cost-effective option considering everything is to get a good used F22ax SOHC motor or similar, swap it in.

Repairing this major engine problem can fix the problem IF done right. However, you will spend more than what you can purchase a good used F22ax SOHC engine for, average of $150-300 from forum members.

The longer you drive the motor in this condition or have already, the more the damage spreads to other components causing secondary failure modes. This will only cause you future problems, EVEN if you fix the primary failure now.

if you check your oil and see it milky most likely a blown headgasket. plus if u see white smoke out of the exhaust good indication as well.

all very good ideas! I'm weighing my options and considering everything. I haven't drove it once since I realized there was oil in the radiator. At this point I'm just gunna look around and see what I can find. I live down in augusta, ga and parts for these cars are a little harder to come by locally because everyone down here drives american trucks (damn rednecks) or shitty ass american cars.

Yea I know the JB weld is a bad idea but at the time I had no choice, I dont care if its a bad idea, it worked and that all that matters to me. the reason it cracked was because while replacing my oil pan there was like 2 bolts missing out of the transmission mounting bracket and I got different bolts from my honda mechanic who said they would work. the last one I was tightening down cracked the housing, not sure why.
