Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Tranny Model?

    Easy enough to find the engine model on the right of the engine, H22A1, but where can I find the actual model of the transmission? Or being the 92 LX with an H22A1 is there only one option?

    Any F or H series transmission (other than the ATTS transmissions from the 5th gen Prelude) will work.

    There should be a label on the transmission with the code, like this one:

      any F22Ax or H22Ax and I think event he F22Bx tranys will fit, it all depends on what gearing you want Close or tall. For example H2U5 is a F series tranny and it is off of a EX trim accord. There is a thread here I will see if i can find it for you to help give you some clarity.

        How do these trannys hold up? Mines shifting kinda rough. It works never have a problem, except its.. well harsh changing gears. A good oil change worth it or just replace it? I dont want to replace unless I have to. Got other stuff id prefer to spend my limited funding on.

          Changing the fluid with Honda Synthetic MTF or GM Synchromesh might help a bit, but if the internals are worn enough, it won't fix it.

          Do you have a short shifter installed? That often makes gear changes more difficult.

            there could be a number of reasons for harshness.
            let us know what trans you got and that may help with common symptoms.

                Good call. The information in my last post is for manual transmissions ONLY. Don't use those fluids in an automatic!


                As for common symptoms... there really aren't any differences between models that I'm aware of. They all seem to wear the same.

                  wops, guess that was my bad. its an AUTO. OH how I would love to do a manual conversion, but I dont think im THAT good of a mechanic. Plus I just moved to a new apartment with no garage. I can try to check the trans type in the morning when there's light.

                    Ok, good think Tippey said that! I'd hope you wouldn't put MTF in your transmission... but who knows... I don't want to be the one giving bad advice!

                    Change the fluid with genuine Honda ATF. DO NOT flush it, and DO NOT use any other fluid.
                    The automatic transmissions in these cars have often been neglected... the fluid is rarely changed as it should be. By now, most of them are wearing out because of that. The fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles at most!
