Another Blaster SS Coil Problem....

Hey guys I tryed Removing my Stock External coil and adding a msd blaster ss coil that I got for free from a friend. After the swap was complete I went to start it and had no spark..

My question is do I have it wired correctly????

I cut the plug off of stock coil, put the yellow wire to the POS on the MSD Coil and took the other TWO black wires and put them to the NEG....Is that correct???

If not what is the correct way to wire it up??

I think I cound possably have a bad coil...It is used and been sitting around..

Hmmm. thats how i did it exactly how you said...check the wire inbetween coil and dizzy cap!

EDIT: new thought check connections and solder wires... do you have those wires going directly to coil from where you cut /or added wire to length?

is it possible you need to run ballast resitor? MSD part number 8214

i know the internal coil to external swap you need one when using an aftermarket coil. without it will take out distrubutor components. you can take out the ignitor with a aftermarket coil if no resitor is in line. this info is relevant to internal coil setups swaped to external.

I didnt have to add any wires I just Cut, Striped and Clamped Fitted Ends on the wires then Hocked it up and I got no Sparky!!

I'm going to try a new Blaster SS Coil Friday I'f That dont work I'll Start looking into a ballast resitor..

And you wired it the same?? Yellow to POS and the TWO Black wires to NEG????

the distributor could have failed too. either way try a known good used distributor if some will have one around, or a coil for that matter

ballast resistor was only for cars with points ignition systems.

why do you have 2 black wires?

if u hook it back up normally does it start?
