ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    crunching sound when turning

okay so i just replaced all of my suspension and sway bar end links hoping that would maybe get rid of this weird crunching sound my car makes when turning (but it didn't) it's made this sound since my brother has had it over 2 years ago. doesn't seem to be hurting anything but it annoys me to no end.

any idea on what to check? the axles/joints are newish so i'm pretty positive it's not those unless they put them on incorrectly. maybe wheel bearings slowly taking a crap?

if it happens when you turn its most likely your cv axle/axles you should take off your front tires and check em make sure you did them right

yea they spin fine when pointing straight out... but how are they if you have em bent like your turning? if you cant spin it then.. there no good.. or if it feels like something is broken.. it probably is.

Most of the time the boot that voers the cv axle will have a tear in it letting the grease that WAS in there out, and letting water and dirt in. The boot doesn't have to be torn though for it to be messed up. I'm not saying that's what it is. But if nothing else you could check out the boots on your axles just to be sure if you haven't already. I've never heard of a crunching sound when someone was turning. All of the axles i've had break made more of a knocking noise lol.

the boots still look brand new, no tears whatsoever. i just installed my front struts the other day and inspected them pretty well. if i can remember right they turned fine when i had the wheels turned and off the ground but who knows. i guess i can put it on my list of shit to do haha

what replacement axles would you guys suggest?

Have you put it up on jack stands and turned the wheels both ways to see if you could come up with anything? I've gotten axles from Auto Zone, Napa, and Advanced and never had a problem with any of the three.
