ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    throwing out air conditioning

so i bought another cb7 today its a hella clean 92 lx that i plan on putting a h22 into. the engine is stock and unmolested just has a hole in the side of the block from a thrown rod. i have no idea if the ac works but i dont want to hook it up to the h22. so any suggestions to safely remove the refigerant out of the system if there is any, it is in a garage as well so its not like i can crack a line, leave it and breathe in the r134a lol

if you don't want to let it go into that atmosphere, i'm pretty sure you can buy a bottle type thing at the auto store that you press over the valve and it releases the gases into the bottle.

Are you sure that it is R134A and not R12? If it is R134A you should be able to get a pressure tester at an auto parts store to see if you have any juice in there to begin with. Beyond that, go for a bottle like fatboy suggested or take it to an AC shop to have them evacuate the system (fairly expensive to properly dispose of R12, I think R134A is quite a bit cheaper though).

i didnt know they made evacuation canisters, thats a good idea. and yea i remeber pulling a vaccum at school on my friends 240sx to get rid of the refigerant, but the car doesnt run so i would have to tow it there. but yea im pretty sure its r134 my friends 240 was a 92 and mine was a 89 and they both ran 134 i dont see why it would be r12, its a bit dated, but u never know. the fittings will be diff anyways so i got a r134 filling hose at the house i can see if it looks like it will fit.

CB7s came stock with R12, so unless the car was converted it will be R12. You should be able to look around and see if there is a conversion sticker somewhere on the hood underside or on the AC assemby, and yeah you can definitely check the connectors with your charge tube to find out for sure.

well i called oreillys and they had no idea about what fatboy described lol i guess ill just hang the compressor out of the way and drop the engine in and once its running crack open a line and let it sit over night outside, the worlds gonna blow up eventually so...

Just use a schrader valve tool and loosen either the high or low side valve. they are only three dollars or so and you wont have to replace any seals. Just maybe the schrader valve it self which is really cheep and super easy to replace.
