ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    New Clutch/Timing Belt

I have a few questions before I purchase my parts.

    Things I need to do:
    - New clutch
    - Timing Belt/Water Pump/Accessory belts
    - Lower Tube seals

As for the clutch, I just want a stock replacement or one that is slightly heavier duty if it's not much more and won't shatter my car. I know I'll need a new t/o bearing, clutch disc and what else? Should I be getting a new pressure plate? A new flywheel? Or is resurfacing the flywheel sufficient? T.A.S has an oem clutch for $90, bearing for $50 and pressure plate for $100, all oem. Good deal?

As for the timing belt I want to do all the accessory belts and water pump as well. T.A.S has the complete oem kit for $150, this seems like a good deal. I'm not sure if I need new tensioners tho, are they re-usable?

For the lower tube seals, do most head gasket kits come with those seals or is it more common to have to buy them separate?

    Thanks

Exedy makes a very good replacement clutch, I think it would run you about $200 for the disc and pressure plate.

$150 is a good deal for the timing kit if you don't know anyone at a Honda dealer like I do, I paid $130 for my OEM set with shop price a few years ago, but I bought some extra stuff I think, can't remember now.

EDIT- I would replace the tensioners if they are original, my originals gave out at 180K miles and now when I do a timing job on a Honda that I don't know the history of, I just replace them. Saves expense and pain and suffering later if they go out on you, I know from personal experience.

I would definitely replace your pressure plate while your in there.. I would never just replace the disk.
250 bucks seems steep for an oem clutch..

Click it.... You know you wanna

Thanks. It's 250 total for the t/o bearing, clutch and pressure plate, all oem.

The tensioners are damn expensive tho for such a little part. I have a history with Honda and get a 10% discount but I think T.A.S is still a better price.

u can find a clutch kit for bout 130 bucks, (exedy ) on ebay
and that includes the t/o bearing and press. plate...

as for the tbelt, i say get it and the tens. pulley from tas,
i just recetly left my balance belt off,
so u wont need that new belt, tensioner pulley ,
or the two shaft seals if u choose to leave it off... (preventitive maintinence)

i think i reply'd to another thread with a response similar to this

Just an FYI, the TO bearing included in the Exedy kit has the EXACT same part number as the Honda OEM TO bearing.
