ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Bad Slave Cylinder?

I would change both master and slave at the same time.
You just remove and replace. Not very difficult. The hardest part is getting the master cylinder attached to the pedal. Not really hard... just tight, and a difficult angle.
Bleeding can be a bitch. Mine doesn't want to bleed properly, and it's been down for over a year due to this. Others have had no problems... so either I'm doing it wrong, or there's something broken.

Anyways, you just undo the hydraulic line to the bad slave cylinder then undo two mounting bolts, and the old slave will come off. Then put a new one on (autozone kind is fine) or get a rebuild kit for $12 and rebuild the old one (takes about ten minutes but if you don't have compressed air to push the old piston out of the existing slave cylinder, or a super strong magnet to pull it out with, I would advise you to buy a new slave cylinder for $20-$30 instead. You could probably put it on a vise and then drill into the old piston , then put a screw in it and pull it out with needlenose pliers but really unless you have compressed air and/or are desperate to save $10 go with the new slave cylinder as opposed to rebuilding).
Then you just fill the hydraulic system with clutch/brake fluid and bleed the system out.
It should take under an hour, unless you have no clearance and have to wrangle with it endlessly to get it into position, in which case it might take longer.
Undo the negative battery cable before starting to prevent the radiator fan from randomly kicking on while your hand is down there.
you'll need an 8mm wrench (preferably a flare nut wrench but a normal one will problably work) for the hydraulic fitting, and I believe the mounting bolts are 12mm but I could be wrong about that.Last edited by batever; 10-18-2009, 10:34 PM.
