ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Short Shifter

hey guys i know this has been posted many many times but it seems that most of the questions get off topic. So i just decided to ask my own.

I want to buy a short shifter for my 91 accord lx, is this exactly what i need or do i need something else too?

cut you old one and reweld it. cheap, effective, oem, and completely functional. longivity depends on how good the welder is.

That adapter would work fine. You won't need anything else, other than an allen wrench to properly tighten it.
You can also make one for about $4 using parts from a hardware store. All you need to do is move the cable mounting point on the shift lever.

Honestly though, and I've said this about 10 times in recent threads (this is a common topic these days... and ALL the info you need has been provided in each one of them...) short shifters cause problems. The synchronizers in your transmission wear out much faster, and shifting gets notchy. Notchy shifting ends up being slower, because you can't slip into gear as easily.

            Post whore. LOL.

You could buy the bracket for it but you might as well get the parts from the hardware store. It'll have the same outcome and when it's all said and done it'll be covered covered up and nobody will know the difference. 60-70 dollars or so on a name brand piece of metal or 7 bucks and the same result. Your choice.

If you're curious, check out the DIY section for the cheap homemade bracket instructions. You can see what it's like for under $5, and less than an hour of your time.

Before you do what? Look in the DIY section to see how to do it, thus answering your own question?

Do you really think I'd suggest a $4 method of doing things that requires $1500 in welding materials?

Thats why you keep it OEM.... try a BB4 prelude shifter. Noticable shorter throw but still balanced and designed to work with F and H trannies.

Oh, and they cost like $15 at a JY

The balance has nothing to do with it. It's just a lever. The function of it doesn't depend on balance or weight, since it's a cable-operated system. The function is to move the levers on the transmission via cable. By shortening the throw at all, you're keeping these levers partially engaged at all times.

                              personally i cant have a short shifter or else my ebrake will be my perm arm rest. im 6'6" so even though my arms are long i have to have the seat far enough back to sit but close enough to throw it in 1st 3rd and 5th. T____T milk -_-;;;
