Go top-of-the-line and get an Escort or Beltronics or don't bother. It's not like GPS where they all do the same thing, just with more bells and whistles the more expensive you go. You get what you pay for in this case. Cobras will be going off at every store with automatic doors you pass, they won't detect soon enough, etc.

valentine1 is the best! i'd rather drive speedlimit imo... i mash it when its clear for a quick second! haha

if a cop asks, the conditions were just right and i wanted my motor well lubricated from the engine revving high.... hopefully he even asks what i was doing.

dunno if its true but i heard that cops can detect if youre using a radar... any truth behind that? anyways i find those things to be annoying... they just beep and make too much noises specially the talking radars... i threw mine out the window on 50east going to tahoe...haha

I use my head and pay attention to the road. The best course of action would be to not speed at all and pay attention to the signs at all times while on the road.

I notice they go up and down on the highway from 70 and then back to 50 then 70 again im like wtf. Just gotta be careful never know whos watchin,just lurkin in the bushes.

valentine1 Def one of the best out there. . Personally i like my radar not because i like to speed or anything but because it keeps me in check when i go past a automatic door or what not and it beeps i immediately check my speed and driving good habits

If you must get one, pay good money for one that will work. A cheap one won't do what you need it to do, and you'll end up relying on it, and getting pulled over even more! Valentine1 is the one that everyone I know swears by. I have a few friends with it, and it works very well. It's also very easy to conceal.

Some states do not allow detectors, so be sure you are allowed to have one... and be sure that you disconnect it and put it in the trunk when entering a state that does not allow them.

I agree completely. Hell, I just paid a $500 fine because I wasn't paying attention. That was my own fault (well, the signs were obscured, so I COULD have fought it... but time is money, you know?)

Just obey the laws, and you won't need special tools to help you evade them. If you're not speeding, you don't need to worry about police with radar!

I believe it's only Virginia where they're illegal, at least in the States. Click those links I posted, they've got the best information on different radar features, what the cops are doing (Radar Roy used to be a cop, he is THE authority on detectors), etc.

"Obey traffic laws" my ass. Life is too short to follow all the rules, I'm going to have some fun. I'll be safe about it, but I'm out for myself in this life. I don't have a detector yet and I'm always going about 90-100 (been 95 in a 65, and 112 in a 75). Just relying on my eyes and knowledge of favorite cop spots, I haven't been caught yet, but I'm looking to get an Escort after some other priorities. If you buy the $50 detector, you're getting $50 results: you will get caught if that's all you rely on. If you really need one, save up.

You better off with a Valentine 1. There are like 6 or 7 states that will not allow you to have a radar detector. A scanner requires you to know frequencies in certain areas...If you don't then wasting your money on one is pointless. V1 will give you enough info. A scanner is only useful if your doing Gumballs or rally's where you are trying to outrun or find out about speed traps way ahead of yourself.
