ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Whining in my steering column?

When I turn my wheel while driving there is this whining noise, sorta like a dog whine. I had a CB before that did this too so I know somebody else has had this problem. Power steering fluid is fine so its not that. Could somebody please tell me what the hell that noise is and how the hell I can take care of it without replacing the column?

Pump is possibly going out? Are you sure it's comming from the column and not from under the hood?

I'm actually having and issue with my steering components? When turning at slower speeds left or right, I will get a strange sound like something rubbing in the column. I have inspected numerous things to no avail. Does your steering wheel get hard to turn at all? have you done anything under the dash to have something rub on the column?

Just because your power steering fluid is fine does not mean that your power steering pump is too. You should probably check that out.

one member had this recently in his cb in this beginners section. if u would use the search function u would find his thread. in it he stated that he took his wheel appart and tightened the big bolt holding it. i would lube everything up. check your fluid. jack the front wheels up just enough to freely turn the wheels w.o them rubbing the street. turn your wheel all the way to the left and right 50 times to get all air bubbles out the system. ONLY USE HONDA STEERING FLUID. trust me it makes a difference.
i rebuilt my p/s pump in my front yard on my 3g prelude about an hour and a half and i can turn the wheel with my pinky.
a friend of mine had this annoying noise in his 92 bmw 3 series and he just lubed it up and it went away.

you state you can turn find so i dont necessarily suspect anything wrong with the rack and pinion. break out the vasoline

Grease up your ball joints? I had the noise and it annoyed me.

But the whine you only describe sounds like the times when I was low on PS fuild and my PS pump went out.
