ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Tach jumping around when cold

Got an issue, where my tach jumps around when the car is cold, I can hear the motor and the RPMs are steady, but the tach is jumping. I also have a problem that seems to be a fuel issue(car dieing and running rough mainly at lower RPMs) and was about to change the fuel filter and clean the injectors, but then this problem came about.
I recently(2 weeks) replaced the Ignition control module, cap, rotor.
Any ideas would be helpful before i just start tearing everything apart.

A jumping tach is usually caused by an igniter (ignition control module) going bad. Where did you aquire the replacement igniter? Was it used? I would take it back to wherever you got it, and have them give you another one. Its not uncommon for new parts to be defective.

Like i said before, its possible that the ignition control module he installed 2 weeks ago is on its way out. (in response to the tach bouncing and not corrisponding to how the engine is running)

As for your drivability problem at low rpm, a bad o2 sensor can cause this. (car dieing and running rough at low rpm)

A way to check if its an o2 sensor related issue is to just unplug it, and see if the drivability problem persists with the o2 sensor unplugged. (it will throw a cel)

To see if its an egr related issue, you can always put a screw / plug the vacuum line for the egr, and see if the problem persists. (it will throw a cel)

A jumping tach can also be caused by a bad ground. Check all your grounds and make sure they have a good connection.

Actually I have my EGR disconnected and the vacuum line plugged with a screw and I do not get a CEL. Weird huh?

When I tested mine (for what ended up being a bad o2 sensor), the electrical for it was still hooked up.
