    Take out a short shifter

I looked it up but i cant really find anything, How can i take out the short shifter and switch back to a stock prelude shifter since i have a h23 tranny. One of the people at autozone suggested that the short shifter could be my problem of it grinding 1st to 2nd, cause it doesnt give enough time for hte syncros or something. so i wanna just go back to stock. Any info?

It's grinding 1st to 2nd because the synchros are going bad. Your short shifter has nothing to do with it.

Once you take out the center console to access the shifter you should be able to see how it all comes apart.

Your shifter cables might be fucked...

On my 2nd CB I had a short shifter and a Gearspeed tranny... tranny was definitely not the problem. Car stopped going into gear; found out my clutch was fucked. I replace the clutch, and the car was still grinding into 2nd and 4th. Car stopped going into all gears eventually. Found out it was the god damned shifter cables. Replaced those, tranny shifted into gear beautifully

Yaw, you got the Gearspeed tranny when you bought sprinkles' car? I thought he sold that separately... Oh wait, no... I remember now. I was bummed because you sold the car before I had a chance to buy that thing from you!

The short shifter may not be what is causing the grind, but it's very possible that it is what caused the synchros to wear more quickly. Grinding when shifting is most likely your synchros.
What sort of short shifter is it? If it's an adapter, just remove it. If it's a modified stock shifter (there are quite a few floating around) the stock mounting points should still be there... just move the cables back to them. If it's a PSPEC or 4bidden, you'll have to replace it. Honestly, I would just stick to a stock shifter. It's not all THAT much further, and it will ensure smooth operation.

GM Synchromesh works very well. I had 3rd and 5th gear grinds due to a shop putting gear oil in my transmission, and synchromesh made it a LOT better. It won't fix anything, but it'll help... and it'll help prolong the life of what you have left.

"Synchromesh gear oil" is a very bad description. There is a substance called "gear oil", and it will cause major damage to your transmission (see what I wrote above...) Stay away from "gear oil".

What needs to be done depends on what sort of short shifter he has.
It really is easy to figure out. I managed to do it... and I'm mechanically retarded.

                    2 (slightly under 2, actually).

And Skunk2 doesn't make short shifters for a cable setup.
Pull your center console off, take a picture, and I'll tell you what you have.

That is a stock shifter that has been shorted vertically. I dont think you can return that to stock. Your best bet is to hit the Junk Yards for a regular Accord shifter.

The throw on that shifter is still stock. Someone just cut the lever to make it sit lower. Ghetto "short shifter".

can I get a piece of gum?

I think the 4th gen Prelude shifter works... prob the easiest + best bet (I think it bangs the front of the console though?)

The grinding between 1-2 might be your shifting. Honda states that the tranny in the cb7 isn't meant to be shifted fast, (especially the 1-2) so if it only happens when you're beating on it, take an extra moment in your 1-2 shift and see if it stops.
