Need help with Sliders for Racing Seats

    Hello,

I just got a pair of racing seats. The bracets on them were for a truck, so I pulled em off. Any who, how do I get the ones from my stock seats off to use on the new seats? I took all the bolts n everything I could find off but there seems to be rivets or something holding them, any ideas? Also, might as well throw it out there, the racing seats need the sliders screwed in from the bottom as that's the only place solid to screw into. Any help would be appreciated. I'd hate to sell/throw out the racing seats as they match my inside perfectly.

First off sliders and racing seat in my opinion don't go together. Just mount in in one spot, the spot where you like to drive then bolt her down. Your gonna have to buy a set of brackets though if you intend to use them. If you have a welder and your fab skills and welding skills are good make your own.

You could probably adapt the stock rails to work... but it will take some creativity.

The solid rivits have to be removed in order to use the stock sliders on aftermarket seats.
It can be done with a little bit of effort, Just make sure you use high grade bolts where the seat joins the slider.
I'll post a pic tonight on how I did mine.

Yeah, you DO NOT want to use cheap bolts. If the seat comes loose, you could lose control of your car.

Or for if you have an accident, Otherwise the safety belt will be totally worthless if the seat is flying around.

Also true. The seat is just as important as the belt when restraining the driver in an accident.

I was thinking of grinding the rivet things off so it'd break the bottom slider piece loose then mounting the seats to those but was hoping someone else out there had any first hand help

Look in my member's ride thread, page 7, half way down. I used the stock sliders w/ my racing seats and had my friend weld a custom bracket onto them out of 1/8 inch steel. I used 4 Grade 8 bolts to secure the seat to that bracket. Its not going anywhere.

Unfortunately the hardest part of the install was grinding those rivets and unnecessary junk off the rail to make it nice and flat. It took him and I about 2 hours to do just that. You're going to have to also totally dismember a pair of OEM seats to use those rails, I got mine from a JY car for 20 bucks (sliders&rails). There's no other way to take them out of the seat.

For the seatbelt, I used the OEM mounting spot on the driver floorboard for one point and I managed to use the 17mm bolt for the buckle and screw that into the seat.

But in my members ride thread I took some pics of what its supposed to look like w/ the bracket on. Since April 2008, I havn't had any issues w/ the seat coming loose. I even got into a fender bender, from behind and they didn't come loose then either. So if done right they'll be just as good, if not better, than the OEM seats.

So I wouldn't be able to grind off the rivets and just mount the two pieces to the racing seat? I'm trying to figure this out asap so I can maybe attempt to put em in tomorrow

So Pretty much you would have to grind these triangle looking things and redrill new holes where the rivets are

There are also spot welds as well as the rivets. So the spots will need to be drilled out.
I prefer to use bolts over welds, but either way will work if done properly.

I thought I had more pics, but this is the best one.

Square tube is from a steel shop.
