ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Leaking Oil

Howdy. My car loves to leak oil and i cant figure out where its leaking from. i have replaced the drain plug, and i replaced the oil pan gasket yesterday, and it still leaks oil. If i could get some help, that would be great.

check if it leaks around the oil filter, or take pics of were there is oil on the engine.

well, there are oil spots on the valve cover, but i replaced valve cover gasket and tube seals while ago. Its not leaking around oil filter, and there is always a little drop right below the drain plug.

there is a metal washer that goes on the oil plug bolt that should be there. try a rubber washer or mabey the threads in your oil pan are shot. pending the amount of oil leaking, its common. both my cars do it. remember these cars are 16 to almost 20 years old. a drop or two in a week no biggie, a puddle ever night u park ur car, big issue. just be sure to check ur oil frequently. i check mine everytime i fill up. (about once a week)

        the rebuild!

these cars are old and a little oil leak here and there is normal, but if you have oil everywhere yea that is an issue.

did you put rtv when you replaced your gasket?

Clean the engine, everywhere, there are several threads on how to. Then park on top of a clean piece of cardboard, in the morning, trace the drips until you find your leak. It's much easier to see leaks on a clean engine than a dirty engine.

The gasket had permadry on it already. and yea, it leaves a pretty good sized puddle when i park it.

if the oil filter is dry and there is just a drop on the end of the drain plug you have a minor leak at the drain plug.

my advice is next time you do your oil change put a rubber washer under the drain plug, or wrap the drain plug threads with pipe tape (PTFE) before installing it.

Alternatively, install a Fram Sure Drain or Fumitomo oil center drain plug with thread sealant the next time you do your oil change. It will make future oil changes much much easier and cleaner and once that plug is sealed you don't have to remove it and it will stay dry for years.

the drain plug has a rubber washer on it already. I will give those suggestions a try, hopefully they work!

There's also a sensor or oil sending unit or whatever it is called that is by the filter that leaks oil sometimes.

shit, that sounds like me. my car will go through oil every like 3 days. Is the main seal a pain in the ass to replace?
