ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    AEM tru-power pulleys

first things first, i will not be installing the larger alternator pulley simply because i've read a decent amount of reasons as to why you shouldn't starve your engine of that extra electrical current (especially on a 20 year old engine)

now my question, is there any possible harm in installing the power steering pulley? i wouldn't imagine so but figured i would ask before jumping the gun and throwing it on

Neither will really do any harm. The power gain isn't significant, though. The pulley that gives real power is the crank pulley, and AEM doesn't make that one. Unorthodox Racing does, though. That one is also the biggest risk. I've had one for over 5 years with no problem, but there have been reports of oil pump failure due to it.

But no. Power steering pulley is harmless. You might have a slightly harder time turning, but nothing significant. The alternator pulley should be fine as well as long as you don't have heavy electronics in your car.

how would a larger pully be better. smaller the circle, the faster it would spin. so therefore a super small pully would rotate the brushes/alternator faster producing more energy.

No, in fact, the UR pulley is the ONLY crank pulley I would trust to be properly balanced. You can get cheaper crank pulleys from no name brands on ebay, but those are death for sure.

The UR pulley is an underdrive pulley, though, and it eliminates the harmonic balancer. That's what supposedly causes the problems. They have a stock size one now as well, I think. The other option is Fluidampr, whihc is supposedly safer, but pretty expensive last I checked.

Yes, these pulleys are smaller. Less resistance, and the lack of alternator charging comes from the car's idle... and the fact that it's spinning slower than usual at idle.

unorthodox actually doesn't make any for the f22 anymore. i contacted them about this and they said any pulleys made would be a one-off and would start at $500 and go down from there depending on how many want one. here's the email i got

              Demand dried up unfortunately.

By hopefully late this year we will be putting together a program for people to be able to buy discontinued parts. First option will be as a one off which will start at roughly $500.00 per pulley. Second is a group by for 30 pieces, pricing will be similar to prices for existing stock. Each person has to put a small non-refundable deposit, the system will notify each person who signed up when a new buyer jumps on the list. So stay tuned J

and i've found only 2 sites that have their alternator pulley listed. but that could just be them being too lazy to update unless those 2 places still have a few in stock.

Geez. You could probably find a UR pulley on ebay... that, or use an H22 one.
