ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Oil Pressure Switch - skirt broken?

I'm replacing the Oil Pressure Switch (above the oil filter), and when I was getting the skirt off, it cracked into a few pieces.

I can't find a part number for this, and it doesn't seem to be replaceable anyway (without taking off the whole engine wire harness). Does anybody know if this actually needs to seal anything in, or can I just wrap the whole thing in some tape so it's reasonably protected?

Always the little things that get me... yesterday I stripped a exhaust stud bolt and had to learn how to get one of those babies out. Ugh!!

I believe it's just there to protect the electrical connection.

Either leave it unprotected or protect it with something else that can stand the heat. Not sure what to advise--bike inner tube material?

I wouldn't wrap the thing with adhesive tape because it will make it impossible to remove.

its only there to protect the connection, they always break, go for it without the boot!

Phew, I feel like I keep breaking things - glad to know it's not a big deal. Finally managed to find a 24mm deep socket to change this little plug, NAPA didn't have one (!?!!).

Just venting, but I HATE the oil pan gasket setup... 2nd time replacing it after splitting on first attempt, I was super careful about starting to torque down to just 2 lb-ft (24 lb-in), and it's starting to slide out at the corners!! I think it's fine, but what an annoying design.

I don't actually torque them down. Just tighten each nut by hand. It should be more than enough. If the gasket starts to squeeze out, it's too tight.
