ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Short Shifter feedback!!

Does anyone have a short shifter in there CB. If so what is your feedback and what do you recomend. I want to get one but don't know of a good one for the CB.

I had the Neuspeed short shift adapter. I loved it.

I now have a shortened Prelude shifter. My only complaint with it is that it relocated the shifter cables too high to keep the center console.

I have a full 92-96 Prelude shifter assembly in my Wagon, I believe it shortens the throw about an inch and also lowers the shifter an inch or 2. I like it alot, and it feels more precise than stock

I have the Neuspeed Short Shift adapter. It works ok, but hits the surrounding console when I shift to 5th or Reverse.

                IMO it's not worth it.

I cut my stock shifter. I love the way it look and feel.

I had the Neuspeed adapter, and it got irritating with it hitting the side in R and 5 all the time. It also kept coming loose.

I then switched to a modified shifter by Fushigi Race Engineering (ie. this guy Mark that I'm pretty sure lived in his mom's basement, and said he worked on Skyline engines all the time in his "shop" ) He was a douche, but the shifter did what it was supposed to do.
However, shortening the throw causes notchiness in the shifting. I went back to stock, and I'd much prefer long smooth shifts over notchy short ones.

Flip your bucket, and it'll fit just fine.

You didn't alter the throw at all. You just made the actual shifter shorter.

Which DIY version? The home depot bracket method? Or the weld on a new cable mounting point method?

The home depot bracket method, IMO, is better than the Neuspeed adapter. It's more securely fastened. The welding on of a new mounting point is just fine as well. All you are doing with ANY short shifter is moving the location of the cables. The Forbidden and PSPEC shifters that many people have (that cost a good amount of money compared to the rest of the options) are supposedly weighted differently, and they have a more positive feel to them. I've never driven a car with either, so I can't speak from experience.

Is there a performance difference? You can shift gears faster. Unless you get notchy shifts like I did, and then you'll be grinding gears and mis-shifting all the time. I nearly blew my H22 by shifting from the top of 3rd down into 2nd... I'm one of the few staff members that HASN'T blown a motor that way!

i have a Prelude shifter and a Neuspeed short shifter for the Prelude. I like, made a big differance. I Have no hitting on the center console and have a good amount of clearance. Maybe because its a Prelude shifter and ss adapter made for a prelude.
