ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Changing brake Rotors

the four bolts that are in between each lug nut stud, they aren't reversed threaded or anything are they? i tried using my air compressor and my impact gun on them and i could not break any free.

currently i have them soaking in liquid wrench from last night so maybe they were just seized on.

also i should mention i have the both entire knuckles off the car because i took them off to have LBJs pressed in. would it be easier to change my rotors with the knuckles back on?

I would find a way to make sure nothing is spinning while you are removing those four bolts. Many years back I removed mine with a good wrench and a breaker bar. Maybe try setting up a wrench and shallow socket and beating it with a hammer to break it loose. As far as I remember they loosen by turning counter clockwise (lefty).

I would just loosen them...don't remove them until you are able to remove the entire assembly by removing the four bolts on back to free the hub.

Reattaching the drive shaft might not hurt either.

yeah i already got the hub bolts off, those were easy. its just those four on the front that are keeping me from changing the rotor out.

Ahhhh ok. Like i said, from what I remember on mine, they weren't too bad, but I did have to use a breaker bar or wack it good with a hammer.

ok i'll just try and remount everything just so i can break those four loose.

          thanks man.

No problem and good luck. I did just remember when I did mine I had everything all mounted back up...good chance that might help w/ applying full torque.

oh i just had a brilliant idea, i could use the old brake pads and a C clamp to hold the bad rotor from spinning, then i could turn the PSI up to 150 and BAM.

you couldn't have made this thread sooner?! i took me and some friends almost 2 hours to figure out how to change my front rotor. lol.

my friend he has a 90 LX and said he can change it in 20 mins i take my car over and he's like this isn't the same as mine so we had to do some figuring out.

                but we got it.

When d112crzy and I did mine, one of us held/pushed in (to hold in place) the socket and breaker bar while the other stood on it to break it free.

Watch out to no strip them though and no they are not reverse threaded. They are just a bitch to get off.

What's going to stop the C-clamp from spinning though?

On another note...can you suggest some affordable air tools and compressor?

                    Thanks,
                    Cris P.

You don't dissasemble the breaks. Put a screwdriver in one of the vents on the rotor. When the rotor spins the screwdriver will get stopped by caliper and will stay put.

                      Make scense?

well it turns out i rounded those little SOBs by using the impact gun. ****.

i'm going to have to go to the PnP and get me a "replacement". that and i ****ed up my passenger caliper. i forgot i had it off and had my brother step on the brake pedal, now the piston is over extended and tore the boot. ****.

time to put the car on hold again till i can make it out to the PnP.

oh i've got a Craftsman 50 gallon 160 PSI air compressor, when i bought it it came with a bunch of air tools.
