ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    external and internal coils???????

i was wondering if ones better than the other? i have a 92 ex and it has the external coil and i bought a f22a6 motor for a back up, but it has an internal coil. just wondering if when my motor finnaly goes what i would have to use my external or keep the internal on my new motor??? thanks

Since ur using your same engine harness I rec u strick with the external coil that way u don't have to worry about something not working right.

And I don't think one is better than the other one.To me having it external is more convenient but technically I don't think it matters. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, someone.

Externals last longer and the aftermarket ones are more powerful.

You're wrong. The harness has nothing to do with it. I have a 90 LX and I swapped mine over to external coil using an aftermarket coil. 90-91 CBs had internal coils and 92-93 had external. The OP said that he has an A6 so that would mean its ext. coil since the A6 was only available in 92-93 EX.

internal coils only faulter due to excessive heat buildup within the distributor. Upgrading on a stock engine is pointless.

CB7/KA8, you stated that "The OP said that he has an A6 so that would mean its ext. coil since the A6 was only available in 92-93 EX."

I have a 91 SE that I confiscated from my son.(he dosent know how to treat CB7's LOL) It has an A6 with an internal coil

Just saying that the SE in 91 had all features. Even the A6.

i have 2 F22a6's, one in a 90 (internal) and my 92 coupe (external) its all in the harness.

ive had issues with ext coils. i had a coil wire fall off of my 93 which i didn't know while i was driving but it melted the wire and my coil. actually happend last weekend to my coupe too. on 95 comming back from south carolina doin about 115 and got off the ramp and again the simple coil wire fell off. no damage this time tho but ive had 2 cars to this to me. and im not a idiot i kno how to properly slide the coil wire on the coil. just makes me wonder. mabey cheap ass advanced wires??? but i used a zip tie on the old 93 and it never came off again, and did so again this past weekend to insure that this prob doesn't happen again. anyone else had this issue???

                        Cheap wires could do it.

Also, the F22A6 NEVER came in a 1990 model.

the number one failure of coils is due to vibration so at least try to fabricate some sort of bracket for it.
