ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    burning oil

I have a f22a6. I thought the valve guides were bad because the car would smoke when I started it up. I changed the guides now and realized that the angle of the head does not allow for oil to sit around the guides. If the car sits for a day or so, I can pull the plug in #2 and there is oil on the piston. Not the other cylinders tho. I dont think its teh piston rings because the oil would drain back down...IMO.

My question is, where could the oil be coming from when the car sits? New HG and valve guides and valve cover gaskets are on the car. I pulled the exhaust header and you can see that the oil is coming from #2 cyl.

Any advise is greatly appreciated. I bought a compression tester today so I hope to have numbers up soon.

Only other place I can think of right now is the valve stems are too worn, though the stem seal should have fixed that reguardless.
Are you sure it is oil sitting on the piston, And does it still smoke on first startup - What color is the smoke?

If at first you don't succeed, Try again. Don't give up too easily, persistance pays off in the end.

The smoke is blueish/gray....it smells like oil. I replaced the valve seals on teh 2 exhaust valves today. It smokes less untill I give it gas. I will do all the seals this weekend. I had the head checked and they said everyting was good. They did not change teh seals on the valves tho. I guess it could be teh piston rings. I will also do a compression check now that the car is back together and see what I get. If its the rings im selling it. I dont want to tear into the block....im just that lazy.. lol.
