First off i have a 92 Prelude with the h22a4 and m2b4 tranny. The problem im having now is that im using the jdm p13 ecu and my car seems to be in limp mode since it wont rev past 2500. The car is idling like complete crap and gets a little better after it warms up. The car is running extremely rich and im guessing its due to the jdm p13. I ran the cel and its throwing a code 21 vtec solenoid. Will this cause the car to run in limp mode? Another thing is i dont have the knock sensor hooked up since the actual sensor is broken off. Would it be better to just go with a p28 or p06 and have it chipped and tuned? . Any advice is appreciated i know its alot but i did the swap a month ago and still have not driven the car just trying to figure out the kinks. btw i know all my vtec wires are wired up correctly. Thanks

Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

No knock sensor could put it in limp mode, since the ECU is looking for it. You should have a CEL code for that as well.
The VTEC solenoid code could me indicative of a bad solenoid, if you're absolutely sure you wired things correctly. You might also want to make sure your oil pressure is as it should be. I know low oil pressure will cause VTEC not to function, though I don't know if it would throw any codes, or damage the solenoid. (of course, if you have low oil pressure, you have bigger problems than VTEC!)
Your car is OBD1, but the H22A4 is OBD2. Did you convert everything properly (the engine to OBD1, I would expect...)? Is the P13 OBD1? (Unless you converted the car's harness to OBD2, you wouldn't be able to plug in an OBD2 ECU anyway)
Unless the ECU itself is the problem, you probably won't fix anything with a chipped ECU. Don't worry about that just yet. That would only be adding yet another set of variables to the mix.

He's talking about an H22. Something the members of this site ARE knowledgeable about. He's asking nothing that is Prelude specific. We can help.

Yea the dizzy has been converted to obd1 and the p13 is a jdm one. I double checked my wiring and its good. I did just change the oil and the car is still on jack stands since i havent gotten the tires for my wheels so im not sure with the front being jacked up like that if it will affect oil pressure that much. Also the secondary butterflies were removed but i dont think they were removed properly so i know the ecu looks for that too so that might be a problem. I just think its odd that the car is not throwing the code for the knock sensor. I just figured going with the chipped p28 might be better since it doesnt look for the knock sensor or the butterflies and also my egr is blocked off. And thanks for the advice i need to get this figured out.
