ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Port and Polish ???

I have decided (forced) to replace some valves in my F22A6 stock engine. I have the head off and getting ready to do a little cleaning in the ports. I have ported and polished before but was just doing what i was told to do. I figured while i have it off might as well do the same thing I did on the other head. Im just not sure I want to go threw the whole port/gasket matching. I have read else where that if the direction of flow is smaller to bigger opening there is really no need at all for any grinding but forsure if its bigger to smaller. the example given in what i read was think about it as if the air is flowing and then hits a wall it needs to be removed but if it flows over the edge like a waterfall then dont worry about it and leave it be. any other info would be nice.

what kind of gains would i be looking at getting by just taking the intake to a nice smooth (80grit) surface and exhaust to as smooth as I can get it or how i like to put it "oooh shiny".

any help is good help really would like to hear what you all have to say. on the one i did before was taken in and flow tested with great improvment and the guy said I did a great job on it. alot of research was done before we started the other head so im not going at this blind i have a great idea as to what im doing. the guys at the shop like to give me a bad time so im not sure if they are just yankin my chain or not. they are trying to con me in to doing the whole port matching. I did not do the grinding on the port match that was done but im sure cant be all that hard. I just know go SLOW and take my time. I really just want to shine it up to improve the flow and be done and get this back together so i can finally drive the daymed thing.

I think just a smoothing of the intake and port matching will be good, plus an actual opening up on the exh side. Might as well do the intake as well.
