ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    chipping ecu or swap ecu

Im in the process of completely rebuilding my f22a4 block, head everything is almost done including auto to manual swap. My question is that i would like to hook a laptop to my ecu later and maybe a turbo setup down the road, could i just switch ecus or chip it or should i get the hondata? this is the only thing that i dont know anything about... Also, would the factory clips going into the ecu have to be spliced or changed.. Thanks for anyone with detailed info..

civic and integra obd1 ecu's swap right in. No harness tapping necessary. I'd say switch to the chipped ecu so you can get the hang of tuning. Things will go much easier for you that way because it's extremely hard to mess up the engine on the low compression it has.

obd1. A simple way to explain the differences between accord/prelude ecu's and civic/integra ecu's are that the accord/prelude ecu's use multiples and weird calculations to run the motor. Whereas, civic/integra ecu's use simple addition and subtraction, this makes the graphs much easier to understand like this:

Basically, your current ecu can't be chipped to add all of the extra features and if you try to change anything on the accord/prelude map you'll have no idea what you changed or where. Trust me, I've tried and failed miserably.

No, it will not run your car safely until it is properly tuned for your car. It is meant for a 1.5L Civic engine.

You can get a device called a Hulog from Moates that will allow you to datalog via USB with the P06. I have one myself. It's a neat tool.

I'm not 100% positive, but you MAY be able to use it on a stock ECU. You can't tune your PT3, but you may be able to datalog from it (someone please correct me if I'm wrong... since I've only worked with my P28). You'll need to know how to interpret the data sufficiently before you should even consider trying to do any tuning.

ECU tuning has a pretty steep learning curve. That's why there are so few knowledgeable tuners on here.

I know, its hard to understand. my factory computer would work, but it has an idle issue where it just keeps idling up and down. I thought it was the fast idle valve, but one day, just to see if they were interchangable, i plugged mine into my buddies civic and it started doing the fast idle and back down and just keeps doing it. So i just was hoping i could order this p06 tonight just to straighten out that idle problem so that i could make sure my new engine runs good, until i could buy the kit or have someone chip it. so i dont know what to do. Thanks deev

would the p06 run the car safely just by installing the chipping kit off ebay for 13 bucks, is that the right one i need, ive been to school for electronics and could figure out how to put it in i guess.

Your idle problem is not associated with the ECU.

The reason why your buddy's Civic idled funny when you plugged your ECU into it is because you drastically changed the fuel mixture for that little D15. Of course it didn't run correctly! It was bogging down on fuel intended for a 2.2L!

but it was the exact idle problem that i had in my car, before i put it in his. Now i dont know what to do and im getting aggrivated to the point of not messing with it anymore, and i love my car. damn it. before i rebuilt it, it would do it to, you start it and it goes up to 2 grand then dropsand then goes back and it keeps doing it like im tapping the gas. and now its still doing it.

Have you read and followed the Sticky threads in the DIY section by MRX regarding setting your base idle?

The reason that it's frustrating is probably because you keep messing with things that aren't related to the problems you're trying to fix.
