ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

ok here is my input. i have done the research and im currently putting my motor together. i have spent a lil over 3k and my motor has after market rods and pistons. i have almost everything i need to drop this motor in mmy car minus kpro and axles. when i got boost thats anothe 2k. with that being said i will have ony spent 6.5k. and i will be able to make as much as 600hp maybe more.

so if its building from scratch to go boost, your wallet is the limit. but in stock form k series will put out more power and torque from bolt ons. with h22 to make over 200 wheel hp you will have to open the motor up. k20's with i/h/e and krpo will make 220-230hp and 150-175tq. on stock internals.

its more about how much money are you willing and able to put into your car.

I think it all rests on what you want to do and how much money you are willing to spend. Since you already have the K20 that isn't a big deal. What matters is if you want to go through the hassle of having custom mounts made and installing it. It is a much rarer swap so you wont be able to get as much help on it. but again, it's all up to you.

z1 internals are the same as type-r, if you wanna upgrade got with rrc internals. it suppost to be 11.7 compresion, stronger rods, intake mainfold make about 10hp more than rbc intake manifold. and the hasport mounts wont work with that motor or tranny.

but anyway good luck with it

Even with the motor in hand, if you can get the K20 in there, running reliably, without halfassing anything... I will personally suck your dick.

What he is trying to get at is if you really had the know how to pull this off, you wouldn't be on here asking us these questions. I would sell the K20, buy an OBD1 H22A swap from Hmotorsonline w/ LSD trans. Buy all the parts you would replace while the engine is out, clutch/fywheel, timing belt and w/p, seals, maybe upgrade the intake manifold, header, new intake, esp mounts. You have a fun, reliable, swapped car. If you really think you can do the K swap, a stock K20 with intake/header/exhaust/cams/tune will rock an H22A with similar mods. Either way I wish you the best of luck.

I'm not really saying it's hard... that depends on your abilities. However, from the sounds of it, you're not a welder. You're not a fabricator. You'll be paying for mounts and axles. You'll need all sorts of modifications done. You'll need to build a new wiring harness.

It gets VERY expensive. When swapping in a motor that doesn't go in easily, the motor is the cheapest part. Going into a project like this saying "I'm only going to spend $3000!" is a very bad idea. You're going to end up with a car in pieces, and no money.

Even Hasport says that a K swap into an older Civic would cost about $8000 WITH their direct swap mount kit!

                                Yea

Ppl w/tons of money (or credit cards) and usually experience are the ones to pull these swaps off

And its usually those kinds of people who REALLY know how not worth it it is

Even $5K to get the K into a CB would be kind of ridiculous. You can build + swap an H w/LSD for less
