ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Boosted F22 or H22 swap

Which would be cheaper for my 97 accord wagon ?

Well, if you already have the F22 you don't have to add in the cost to buy an H22...

H22 swap would be cheaper if you doing swap by yourself.

with Boosted F22 you will need to get it dyno and tuned ....except you do it yourself........oh and also you will need to rebuilt your internal and would likely cost you more than H22

You are better off purchasing an h22 for around $750-1100 bucks and doing the install yourself, because honestly if you are willing to boost the F, then you got to have some kind of mechanical ability, and the H-swap is fairly easy to install. And hell then for that added lil power seek out someone who can socket/tune your P13, or find a virgin p28 and socket/tune it on crome or neptune. Youd have a pretty nasty lil ride on your hands on a street tune. Much more fun than that boosted F, tho nothing makes my day more than hearing a beautiful BOV, in this case H22 FTW! There are many write-ups out there to point you in the right direction, and ive personally helped/done two H-swaps in CB-CD Chassis cars. Check out Tigerjapanese.com for a decent priced H22a shipped to your door.

Eek, no. You're risking your money if you order through Tiger. If anything is wrong with the motor, you will have to file for an international lawsuit (because they're in Canada). Buy a motor from a US immporter.

tigerjapanese is junk they have issues with motors breaking.

if you put your head into it and get enough research done, you could boost a f22 for a decent price, and at the end you eat h22 swapped cars. so if you ask me, f22 boost all the way
            miss my turbo cb7

Ive picked up two H22a's from those guys without a problem, but ive heard my stories about them. Either way theres no fun like dual-cam fun! H22 FTW.

Honestly, if you're going cheap... neither option is good. A cheap swap is likely to be a garbage motor. Aside from the cost of the motor, it's very smart to change the timing belt, water pump, seals, gaskets, etc... A $1000 motor can easily cost you $2200 when all is said and done, if you do it right. If you cut corners, you risk having something break on you.

A cheap turbo system will either break, or break your motor. It's not cheap to boost a car unless you REALLY know what you're doing, and you shop smart for the parts. If you don't know what you're doing, you'll find that tuning is going to be expensive.

Either way its all about $$$..

well the price is not much different either way to be honest. but a DSM turbo setup works really well on the F22 and they are easy to come bye. just make sure u gra the injectors as well. I have a built NA f22 and it eats
                    h22 all day.

An F22A with a cam, headwork, a tuned ECU, and a decent header will make somewhere near stock H22 power to the wheels. If you can do all but the machine work yourself, it'll cost about what an H22 will run. Still an old bottom end... but so is the H22!

A DSM turbo on an F22A is a nice bump in power. Similar to h22 horsepower, but more torque. A bit more of a learning curve, and reliability can be an issue. The more reliable you want it to be, the more you're going to have to spend. A FULLY built and properly designed turbo motor can run $10,000 or more... but it'll be reliable as hell if it's done right. Granted, with $10,000, you can buy some kid's beat SRT-4 and call it a day!

H22 swaps SHOULD cost around $2500-$3000, even doing the labor yourself. The motor should run you around $1000 from a reputable source. You SHOULD replace the clutch, timing belt, water pump, most seals and gaskets, etc... you can cut corners, but the only way that's a good idea is if you REALLY know what you're doing. At the very least, the timing belt has to be done... if that fails, you just threw away whatever you spent on the swap!

Oh yeah, I forgot... Just read the first post again. The DSM setup isn't as easy on the F22B that you have in the 97. The manifold does't fit, so you need to find a custom manifold. Without the DSM manifold, the "DSM" kit really isn't a kit at all. You can use the injectors... because of the manifold, you can get just about any turbo you want... just get a mani with the right flange.

Oh, and that stuff about the NA F22... that doesn't apply to the F22B1 or F22B2... those motors suck. You have one of them.
