ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    help. Walbro fuel pump question

I did my turbo this weekend on my f22. Put in the 255 walbro fuel pump. My question is.. We crimped the wires together. There is no worries right?? We didnt shrink it or anything so the wires are exposed. Usually fire needs oxygen so i am figuring it should be good.
    Thanks.

Well if the positive hits ground it will short or spark and that fuel pump will stop working (at least for a moment) , plus when debris and oil gets in the connection it will start to lose some of its conductive capacity, and then you've got the issue of the connection loosening from vibration.

Although I'm not sure of automotive electrical connection standards (standards are different for different applications), Probably the best bet is to go get some automotive electrical twist on connectors and connect it that way, then tape around the connectors to further keep dirt out. In the meantime throw some electrical tape on or something. Actually, come to think of it for machine environments like cars there are screw on style clamps that secure the connections against vibration loosening. I'd just call up the auto parts store and ask them.

But for a week or so it should work fine. I'd look to make the connection more secure against vibration and protect it more against weather though.

please no screw on connectors. solder and heat shrink, thats the only way to go.

I use environmental splices. They look like butt splices, but when you hit them with a heat gun the outside rubber heat shrinks and then the center sleeve liquifies and solders the wires. Very sweet. Also very easy. Takes about 1 minute to do 2 wires if they are already stripped
