Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    SRS Problems

    Ok, I just got my 92 Accord LX running again, titled and registered. I live in VA so I have to pass state vehicle inspection as well. I took it to get inspected and failed for my SRS light being on. I remember when I bought my car, the SRS light would sometimes come on while driving, but it was more of a flicker and not on solid, sometimes turning the steering wheel would make it go back off and certain positions would make it flicker again. Lately though, it's on solid when I start my car.

    I've tried the SRS reset method with the MES Connector numerous times and can't get beyond the first step. The light never goes off when I put my car in the "on" position with the connector jumped. I'd like to figure out a way to make it function properly to pass state inspection. Does anyone know anything I could try to anything to possibly get it working? Would wiring the SRS light to my CEL make it come on, then go off, just like the CEL does?

    I have a similar issue...gets worse when the weather is warm.

    Sounds like a reel assembly...also called a clock spring

    Number 3, top left of pic...and you should pass inspection with an srs light on...it's the check engine light that will fail you...or seat belts that are worn/frayed...unless they changed the laws from two years ago.

      I read that if it was the reel assembly, the horn would also quit working, and mine works. I guess they did change the law because I failed inspection because my SRS light stays on.

      I need to do something quickly to pass inspection, which is why I was thinking of wiring the SRS light to the CEL so it will come on, then go off. Then I could figure out why it won't go off and fix the problem. I just need to get inspection passed asap.

      Since the inspection guy specifically said I couldn't just pull the bulb, I tried to pull my gauge cluster out to wire the SRS light to the CEL. I wasn't aware that tal the wires are ran through a couple plugs and nothing connected to the lights themselves. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the gauge cluster?

        Save yourself some time-don't bother doing this. Your vehicle will fail VA state inspection if:
        1. The SRS light fails to light for six to eight seconds
        2. The SRS light stays on continuously or flashes
        3. A stock SRS system has been removed or disabled (this rule was added in July 2007, I think)

        As for the CEL, that will not fail state inspection unless the inspector can prove that it is an issue related to proper function of the emission control system. I usually ignore them unless the vehicle I am inspecting has clear pollution control problems.

          Fix the problem properly, Don't try and "bypass" it by messing with the wiring.

          Any tech will know that its been bodged if it works simultaneously with the engine check light - As above there is a specified time.

          Diagnose the code and replace the faulty part.
          I would say it is the Cable reel (clock spring) or possibly the control unit at fault.
          Btw yes the horn will still work if the SRS cable reel circuit is faulty.

              Is there a way to diagnose the problem without taking it to a shop? I'll check the Honda junkyard around here for the parts you've mentioned to get prices and availability.

              EDIT: I read on another forum that if your Cable Reel is bad, the horn may or may not work, and Cruise Control may or may not work. I believe the forum post was in relation to an Acura Legend, would the same be true on a CB7? I'm just asking because as I was out and about this afternoon, I realized that my Cruise Control isn't working. Just trying to narrow down what the problem could be.

                May or may not...means that is not something you can use to diagnose.

                It has already been diagnosed...the symptoms are in progression:
                SRS light flickers when wheel is turned
                SRS light intermittently comes on and off
                SRS light then stay on.

                  I found a guy on Craigslist parting out a cb7, so I'm going to see how much hed want for the Cable Reel and try that. Then if need be, I can get some more parts from him and eventually find the fix, lol.

                    In my search for a new cable reel, I received an email from someone saying that they had problems with their 93 Accord and instead of replacing the cable reel, they said they were able to pop it open and fix a broken wire inside it. Does anyone have experience with that at all? Other than that, I'm having no luck getting my SRS problem fixed.

                        Also, I believe this isn't usually an issue with a cable in the reel...but the connector between the wheel and reel assy...but I'm not 100% familiar with it's construction and what not...I may be able to give better info once I replace mine...which will be a while as the part is nearly $300

                          I have come across connectors being faulty multiple times, but legally we aren't allowed to repair them over here, they have to be replaced reguardless.
                          Kinda sucks for the customer money wise, however personally I'd rather KNOW my stuff is safe when I crash.

                            Bringing up an old thread. My car does this exact thing. SRS light flickers at certain positions when the wheel is turning. Would this be related to the clock spring having a loose ground or something? Also, is there a DIY or anything on how to get to the clock spring? Thanks
