ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Miss under acceleration, dies at idle, sluggish accelleration

    Hey Guys.

I just bougth the car two days ago and it was fine when I drove away, these symptoms just started yesterday. I've searched, read, and looked around a little but no luck.

    Symptoms:
    1. When driving, the car will die when rolling to a stop. It always starts right back up.
    2. Has a miss down low when I rev the engine.
    3.The rev's climb VERY slowly.
    4. Oil covered spark plugs.

    Tuneup stuffs:
    1. New valve cover gasket and tube rings.
    2. Changed spark plugs.
    3. Chagned the PCV valve.
    4. Oil and filter change.
    5. Air filter change.

After reading some, I pulled the o2 sensor plug and the missing/dieing at idle still persists so the o2 is good. Any other ideas?

I'm thinking change the plug wires but they look pretty new and seat nicely on the plugs. Maybe clean the IAC, but that wont cause a miss. I think it's something ignition related. TIA for any input!

    DWR.

if your tachometer seems like its "jumpy" then it could be a possible ignitor issue.

The new valve cover gasket probably won't fix your oil in your spark plugs. Its the rocker arm O rings that are most likely leaking into the spark plug chamber. Once those are fixed, that should take care of the low RPM sluggish acceleration. If there's anymore issues after that, feel free to post up the symptoms.

truth be told, you might have dead cylinder. do a compression check. all cylinders should compress at 110 to 125 psi.

        the rebuild!

The tach seems smooth. I dont think it's bad, but if everything else is good, I will check into the ignitor. How do you go about changing the rocker arm o-rings? I believe they came in the kit with the valve cover gaskets and boot rings.

IDK man, it seems to smooth out and fire when the RPM's go up. I can borrow the gauge to check compression tomorrow.

          Any other ideas?

Well, I have a LOT more checking around to do now... the car seems to have dropped ignition from another cylinder. It's now BARELY running and died on the way home from the hospital today.

It will not start back up. WTF.
