ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

How many MPG should I be getting?

I just took a nice long trip in my 93 EX and noticed while driving only highway driving I'm getting 24 MPG with A/C on should it be this low? I have only done a couple of things to the car I have 17 inch rims with new tires, I also changed whole exhaust system old one had a leaks and ruseted out. So now I have no name header and everything else is magnaflow. What could I change to get more miles to the gallon.

I have averaged about 31mpg city/highway mixed over the past 6 months or so (since I've started calculating it). Highway driving alone going 70ish mph, I get upwards of 35mpg. I rarely use A/C, but on the one tank I did deliberately I still got 28mpg.

As for getting better mileage, decrease your speeds. Try not to go over 70, keep it around 55-65 if/when you can on the interstate. Don't gun it at every red light.

Fresh filters, monitoring tire pressure and a tune up couldn't hurt either. I get roughly 30mpg b4 i did my rebuild, I should get 35+ when I'm done, Hopefully, lol

cleaned fuel injectors will help, not the one u put in gas tank, after clean fuel injectors try use gumout (clear bottom yellow color) every 3k miles and try to clean IM, some1 said seafoam is good but i never try it yet, good luck

I'm not sure if thats is low low but it prob could be higher. My total with mixed driving is around 26-27mpg. Then all highway interstate with speeds around 70ish I get over 30. So far I've done over 250miles on a little more than half a tank(and I have a leaky injector seal). Best thing is to clean the tb, plugs, tire pressures, extra weight, no a/c, and easy on the pedal. I could get better gas mileage I just like to hav a little fun.

I get 30 city during the warm temps
27 when it stays below 50*F

                things that will help

                Behavioral things:
                Light on acceleration
No WOT or 80% throttle driving.
If auto, don't touch the brake unless you ARE stopping (don't ride it)

                Mechanical/Maintenance :
Tire pressure no less than 35psi when cold (29 is too low...), no more than max sidewall press. on tire.
                New intake air filter
(fuel filter clogging would result in higher mileage)
Drain and fill manual tranny oil every 15k
Drain and fill auto tranny fluid every 10k no more than 15k...3x's d&f every 30k
Drain and fill your motor oil with synthetic every 15k (oil filter changes every 5k with a 1qt top off as well)
                of
Drain and fill your motor oil with conventional every 4-5k and the oil filter too
Top engine/injector clean (seafoam is good) every 30k
                Clean the TB...might as well
                New spark plugs every...uh 30k? I think...30
                what else...what else...

24 seems low, unless you are hard on the take off, drive aggressive, or have an auto

anything north of 20+ is ok

                          some guys are getting 30mpg

I averaged 22mpg on my 110,000 f22a1, then after bolt onts, h22 intake manifold 23-24mpg LOL.

Being manual also boosts your mpg, unless you're shifting very late and revving very high.

If you're getting 3,000MPG, congrats. If you only have 3,000 miles on your car, congrats.
