ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Need an answer from CB7 owners

alright...well, i own a 4th gen prelude, of which i am damn near done doing a transmission swap. but lucky me, the tranny i pulled was out of a 91 accord....so... the prelude manual mount and bracket of course didnt even ATTEMPT to work lol

So, after doing some searching, i see that when using a 4th gen tranny for a swap in a 4th gen accord, you have to cut the bracket off and weld a new manual one in...my question is, would i need to do that in my prelude, or will the fact that my bracket is (nearly) the same as a 5th gen accord mean i just need to drill a hole in my existing bracket to have it line up correctly?

Thanks for any help here guys

unfortunatly, they cant help me. ALL of the prelude owners have swapped prelude transmissions in, being as most of them have went h22, and did not want to have a longer gear ratio of an f series tranny...so they are of almost no help whatsoever. I was hoping that perhaps since the mounts of the prelude and 5th gen accord are almost exact, that maybe my accord cousins could lend me a hand and help me out lol

I'm not 100% sure how it is on the Prelude. But, if you swap a Prelude trans into an Accord, you have to drill a new hole on the Prelude trans for the Accord mount to line up properly.

      Have any pics?

Anyways, since you say the 5th gen mount is pretty much equal to your current stock mount, drilling it would be the easiest way to make it work. Line everything up and make sure you drill the right spot, I'm sure some one of more experience will chime in and help, ignore the senseless posts.

PM cpmike on here, he is good with this stuff. There answer does lie in this forum somewhere.

I am only familiar with swapping an H series tranny into a 90-93 Accord.

Are you doing a auto to manual or just tranny swap?

If you are using the accord manual tranny in a prelude you will have to drill and tap the extra place for the stud. You will have to move one stud over and use the stock prelude mount.

hey thanks guys for all the responses =) yeah it is a auto to manual swap using a 91 accord tranny...i did run across the thread on drilling and tapping for a prelude tranny to work in a CB7 and had actually though about that...but wasnt sure if tapping for the prelude mounts on the accord tranny would be tapping in some bad areas (like, in a spot where theres very little metal to the case and accidentally tapping INTO the transmission itself) right now that sounds like a fantastic idea to me, rather than spending more money on another mount and bracket lol

              **edit

Just went outside to look at it again...there is NO way i can drill and tap for the prelude mount on the 4th gen accord tranny...the mount expands far too wide, one end, ends up being entirely off the transmission itself and the other just grazes the side of it =/ so back to square one in hoping that the accord tranny mount will work without removing and welding a new bracket on my frame
