ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

one way I've heard is to put the front end of the car up withtranny in neutral and spin the wheel while touching the lower control arm. It should spin totally smoothly, but if it's significantly gone you will feel a vibration through the lower control arm. If it's just starting to go you might not feel anything though because the bearing is unloaded in any direction while you are spinning it.

Usually first noticed by a humming noise from around one of the wheels when driving.
To check the wheel bearings, you will need to jack the car up (so the wheels are off the ground)
For the front wheels - Place one hand on the upper control arm and spin the wheel with the other hand.
For the rear wheels - Place one hand on the upper control arm, or on the lower control arm and spin the wheel with the other hand.
If the wheel bearing is bad - you will feel a "rough" vibration through your hand on the control arm.
Also you can often hear a rumbling sound coming from the hub.

not really, you need to press the bearing off the hub and getting the hub isnt the easiest thing to do compared to other models.

                Here is DIY
                http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthre...ighlight=rotor

you will need to take Hub and Bearing to the machine shop for them to unpressed the old bearing out and pressed new bearing in

Check your axle boot and look for any rip or leak. It might just be your axle not your bearing.

if you getting bearing get Honda one.
Majestic Honda have them for $50.

if axle just get from local auto store. They should be ok (they only 50-$70) honda one will cost you $200+ (most of them time axle fail because of the boot fail)

If you don't want to rely on the machine shop to press out and install the bearings, try building one of these, this should do the trick:

                  http://www.backyardmetalcasting.com/woodenpress.html

all you need is a saw, some wood, some good wood glue and nails, and a bottle jack.

This one made of 2x4s seems a bit wimpy to me, however I've also seen one made with 4x4s by a guy who built his own airplane *completely* from scratch but I can't seem to find the link. He used through bolts instead of nails on his. One of these things is definitely on my project list, I've always wanted a hydraulic press of my own. Consider using eye protection when using just in case the wood breaks (also don't use a bottle jack that's much stronger than the wood frame and just in general use a little caution and common sense).

doing a wheel bearing without a press or a machine shop is a real pain in the ass. I'm a DIY guy, but its worth the money to get them done then to whail at your suspension for hours.

                              Thats just me.

Also, double check your axle nuts are torqued down correctly. If you just did any work involving axles, and they are not torqued down, you can get this sound as well after some time. Tightening them up can make the sound go away.

BTW, if your brakes have any wear on them, now is the time to replace your rotors/pads. The pads are the easy part, but you need to press the hubs out to swap rotors. since they will be off anyway, its almost preventitive maitnence at this point.
