ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    cruise control removal

How much of a pain would it be to remove all the cruise control components? I say this because mine doesn't work and I seen on someones member ride thread that they took it out for weight reduction. Is this an easy task? And what problems might I run into?

I think its the easisest think to remove. One of the members said it took him 5-10 mins i belive. All you really need to do is unhook the cable from the gas pedal unbolt the bigg ufo looking sensor and pull. I think thats how it goes.

Its really easy. Like ^ said, all you really have to do is unhook the cable from the gas pedal. Then pull it out.

Just don't forget to cap the vacuum line.

To be honest, you will save maybe 5 pounds. Which isn't much at all

I just want it outta the way because it doesn't work on my car and it's really serving no purpose. Plus it'll help clean out the engine bay a little.

there's an electical connector on the servo part under the hood. unplug that and then start the car to see how it does. my 90' freaks out with the cruise unplugged and revs up to 1200-1300 rpm. doesn't fluctuate at all, just goes high and stays there.

Its probably because you didn't cap the vacuum line. There is one rubber hose running to the servo, and you MUST cap it by putting a screw in it ect.

That would be a vaccuum leak... The cruise control on these old cars works off of engine vaccuum, whatever the engine vaccum is at the point of setting the cruise control is what the servo (aka "UFO") measures. So when you unhook the vaccuum line fro the servo(UFO) it creates a vaccuum leak. Follow the line back to the intake manifold and plug it off, simple as that. Your engine will run just as it did before you took it off.

will try pulling everything and capping the vacuum line.

I haven't pulled the vac line yet tho, only the electrical connector. With the vac hooked up & the electrical line off that's when the rpms go up.

What do I do with the cable coming from the gas pedal once I remove it?

I had to cut my cable when removing the system. You can try and pull it through from the engine side, but if it won't go through the grommet, just cut the wire.

there is also a black box behind the drivers side fender with some vac lines going to it and a small control unit under the dash you can remove. you can also remove the button from the steering wheel, the whole thing is under 5lbs though :-(

I'm not really doing it just for the weight reduction. My cruise control hasn't worked since I got the car. I just want to take it out to clean up the engine bay a little because its really useless. Thanks for the input from everyone.

What do you do with he cable going into the diaphram (ufo)? i know you loosen the two 12mm screws for the adjustment but how do you pull it out?

I went to do this the other day at work and got to this part and didn't wanna mess anything up, so I bolted everything back down and figured I'd ask you guys.
