ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

You're in Cali. Do that, then go to emissions to see what they have to say about that.

I live in cali and I did it. You can but I'd hold on to your cat for when that 2nd year comes around...unless of course you know "people".

to tell you the truth bro, dont qoute me on this, straight pipe doesnt do anything imo. i know that straight piping is more for boost. and as far as cats. my muffler guy said that there is really no such thing as a high flow cat. so youre better off with a regular one just get a good brand or something. he said that the "high-flow" cats tend to be hollow so if you were to get one of these "high-flow" cats youre better off straight piping. i say get a cat though! lol, so where in la are you? i can direct you to my muffler guy.

the cat may cost a hp and the muffler might use a few as well, but you dont want a straight pipe exhaust on your daily driver car as it is way too loud and annoying.

you can get a magnaflow high flow cat. it's going to have a wider opening giving it a better flow and it'll do it's job better than an 18yo one.

Some JY also buy cats if they have the honeycomb stuff still intact.

$50 a shot right around the corner from me.

one of my homies was saying that catback dont even give u horsepower is it true? he was saying that u get more hp from a straight pipe exhaust without catalitic converter , than a catback wit exhaust system? so the question here is still is , does the catback give u hp?

cuz i have an megan racing catback and exhaust system, so my homie was saying i could get the same hp from a stock oem straight pipe exhaust true or not true????

You should get more HP from a catback. Ive had mine on for a few weeks and CAN notice a difference. Not only in the tone, but in the higher rpm's, it keeps pulling. Just put my header and downpipe on today, sounds sweet, have yet to drive it for real yet... I believe straight piping will sound raspy. Just get a full exhaust and use your stock cat. I believe most of us are.

Keep the cat. A cop will definately hear how loud your car is without it. He will look under your car and nail you. Can't smog it. Headers and a cat back system will give you noticeable hp gains and sound good. Just spend money on a decent system and it won't sound like a swarm of bees in a coffee can.

Honestly I did that b'cuz my old exhaust system fell apart literally and had no choice but to do a straight pipe system (what can you do with 80 ducks to your name) at first it was okay then it got annoying, then i kept getting pulled over for it, and to answer your ? you're better off with a cat back system than a straight pipe system. The only resason why most people do is because their cars are putting down smome decent horsepower #'s so if your car is stock it ain't going to do shit but kill your horse power.

no offense your friend doesn't know much about performence.

cat delete on an n/a and even slighty modded engine gives no power, ignore those who say it does. You would need a high flow cat for a highly modded or boost engine. But you want that cat.

Go with 2.25" exhaust, look on ebay as you can find header and cat back setups for 200 or so.

2.5" inner diameter would be best if you plan on doing a really good n/a build.

3" for boost...that is what I've seen from folks here. I have 2.25" wish I had gotten 2.5" with my future plans...oh well

either way, leave the cat or get a high flow, but get a quality name brand one and not an ebay one or you will most likely not pass insp.

Catalytic converters cut emissions that we don't want to breath. One car no big deal? wrong more people do this than you realize...so one car NOT doing it is a gain. And it's a pointless mod anyway.
