ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Depends. If you are super low and have a valuable lip, I say no keep the PS. Otherwise take it out. I would take mines out but due to my lip, I need to keep it on.

I could only clean the engine bay so much. It does take out a chunk of the clutter.

On a freezing morning a couple of years ago my EX started firing ps fluid out of the reservoir, so I pulled the belt off and drove to work. It was fine to drive, just very slow to react with high effort at low speed, like you'd expect. Getting rid of it, though - I wouldn't consider this a worthwhile tradeoff for a few hp and a cleaner underhood look.

having no power steering is only a pain in the ass when the car is standing still.

the car had no PS when i bought it.
i hooked it back up and only drove with it for about a day before i took it back off again.

i like it better. it feels more connected to the road somehow.

Unless you find a way to keep the rack lubricated, it will dry out and fail.

Otherwise, no power steering isn't bad. I pulled my belt when I discovered that it was too tight. The shop that put my underdrive crank pulley on used a belt that was too small, and it was straining the pump. I yanked it before it died completely. I'm told that I'm fighting the pump now when I turn, and that it'd be easier without it. I dunno about that... I can drive it just fine, and I'm no He-Man.

I don't understand what it has to do with a lip, though.

it really doesn't matter. not a big deal, if you want to take P/S out, take it out.

This is what I keep saying; when the belt is removed it isn't necessarily the case that the lines etc need modifying to avoid hydraulic resistance in the PS.

In at least some cases there will be no significant hydraulic resistance ('reverse pumping') with the belt off, so no need to alter anything. Having said that I can't state categorically that this will be the case with all Accord PAS steering.

It's dead easy to check whether or not any modification is needed with belt removal. Just jack the front wheels off the ground and, with engine not running, quickly turn the steering wheel all the way one way then the other (a few times). If it turns easily then no problematic hydraulic resistance exists, in which case you can leave all the lines etc unmolested.
                        Regards from Oz,
                        John.
