ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Rpm tachometer!

I am having a h22a installed into my 93 ex and i was wondering should i get a seperate tach for my rpms since its a different engine? The only reason why I think I should get one is because I have the stock trans and its going to drop out of vtec everytime I shift. Would buying a rpm tach fix this problem?

The tachometer only shows what RPM your engine is at, it doesn't affect anything else. So it's not really a solution for you, you're probably best of getting a H22 transmission if you want the best of your engine.

A solution I did is I got a Autometer Pro Shift Lite and installed it on the dash. It is wired to the coil, so that should be accurate if you feel the tach isn't.

Let's clear this up, are you going to rev higher than the stock tacho will show, and that's what will make hitting VTEC hard to do? If not there's no way any tacho, aftermarket or not, will help you stay in VTEC.

It's the transmission that dictates where you end up after a shift, if the gears are too tall you may end up below VTEC, but no tachometer will help, only another transmission.

Yea a tach won't help. You can however get a tuned ECU and have the VTEC engage at a lower RPM.

The stock tach is often a bit optimistic... so this is good advice.

Changing the tach won't actually affect performance, any more than getting a new fuel gauge will give you better gas mileage. The tach just tells you how high the engine is revving. The stock CB tach goes high enough to show a stock H22's full usable range. The only benefit to a new tach would be for accuracy reasons, as afi2black has mentioned.

Buy hondata or get a shorter geared transmission.

Would a turbo fix the problem? I have noticed brand new torbo kits for under 1G! What is the highest boost that my engine could hold?
