ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Oil Pressure/gauge

So i just installed a oil pressure gauge in my car and wanted to confirm that these readings are ok. I have no idea what they should be at so here it goes

    engine: H22A
    oil: Royal Purple 10w-30
    Filter: NAPA

    Idle when warm: 16psi
    2500rpm (warm): 60psi
    vtec: 92psi

the pressure also does this weird thing when accelerating to around 4k. The psi will rise to 90psi then dive to 82psi and continue climbing. Is this due to that valve in the oil filter? Also the gauge is mechanical and im using the plastic tubing that it came with. Is this able to hold up to this kind of pressure? I assume it is because the gauge goes from 0 to 100 but i would like more information on this.

ditch the plastic tubing for a rubber one. Over time the plastic may become brittle and snap and youll have oil spilled all inside your car

Should have gone electrical, that way you wouldn't have hot oil running into your cabin. For my oil pressure gauge, i'm using this:

Unfortunately, Its not getting hooked up until my intake manifold swap, where the port will be easily accessible.

wow over killl, u cant take care of the plastic breaking by running a copper line

also if it breaks it will be in the engine bay, not in the cabin

as far as ur oil psi's
        mines f22a1
        idle-20
        3000-80
        5000-7000- 80-90

the reason it goes to 92 and then to 80, is because the oil presure relief valve in the oil pump, not in the oil filter

im running 10w30 shell oil, w fram filter, so the fram=low oil pSI is bullshit

It was either that, or adapt something from home depot, and everything at home depot I wouldn't trust to withstand our oil temps, or pressures, unless it was straight pipe, and that would just shear and snap off the back of the block under the weight of the sensor combined with vibration.

I also thought mechanical gauges require you to run the tubing to wherever to gauge is, and if your reading the gauge while driving, its obviosly not under the hood.

im pretty sure a few people here run the plastic line

also u talk about the f22-h22 oil PSI like it was skin penetrating, its only 80psi

Its not really the pressure, its the temperature, instant 1st degree burns if it gets on you, and its a pain to clean up if anything starts to leak. Mechanical gauges are good for alternator less race cars, plus they tend to be cheaper. I just don't want any possible flamible or hot fluids coming into my engine compartment, might blow myself up when I light a cig, or burn myself badly. haha
