ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

I had a no start issue years ago it ended up being the receiving end of the ignition inside the steering column, it will crank and not start. But if I held the key (to crank) it will stay on ( the starter making noise) until I let go.

It's an internal coil. That mechanic is a moron (or trying to get you to bring the car in so he can charge you to fix it)

It HAS to have an ignition coil... if it doesn't, that would explain quite well why it's not starting.

yeh my problem was two of my grounds werent grounded.. double check the grounds.. and check the ditributor for spark again..and if that all is right than i would take it to a diff mechanic and see what he says..but dont sell it man youll miss it like mad

yea i really dont want to sell it because it was a good car until... you know... lol um if i can find someone from here in ct to come check it out that would be alot easier cuz the mechanics here are all shit heads and they do try to rip u off for everything but i just dont want to put any more money into it i mean sh!t i replaced the motor both tranny and engine computers the main relay the distributer the computer that looks like a little amp under the hood i replaced that too and the radiator the fans the engine wire harness befor i bought the car the fulepump was replaced, gas filter so much time and money put into the car im just getting fed up and everytime i want to check something on the car i have to walk 5 miles to the car because i have no money to tow it to my house so.... yea

any word on this? Timing issue wouldn't cause a no spark issue, If its not way out of time usually the car will start still, may just crank longer, loss of power, spuddering etc etc. Since this mechanic seems to be unreliable, might wanna double check to see if that is actually your issue(no power to the distributor) If your not good with wiring diagrams, just let me know and I'll tell you how to check if you have spark, cuz I would just start from scratch and forget what that mechanic told you man

if you need to you can hit me up
                  text is usually better

DONT SELL IT MAN! You have gone buying alot of brand new parts for the car to end up selling it because its not getting power.KEEP IT! Have you checked all of the fuses under the steering wheel and under the hood like the starter fuse and the ignition fuse?

yea i checked all the fuses all the grounds changed the engine computers twise changed the main relay changed the distributer and put a new engine and still nothing so i came to the conclusion that it has to be the wire harness behind the dashboard because the engine computer i dont think is getting any power (cuz theres a light on the computer and the light dosnt turn on) but i found a 93 5speed that im trying to buy but that one needs body work but this one i give up and its like a dead end story owning this car so ....

i concurr... your mechanic is a re-re... cb's either have an internal coil (inside dizz) or external coil mounted next to the dizz... the coil on the internals go out alot... other than that check your ignition switch inside the car... if it's going bad it may not be sending the signal to trigger your coil... other than that just start looking for cracked, broken, or corroded wires and connectors under your hood... the wire plugs for the dizz crack or sometimes when the wire seems good, tug on it, youd be supprised... my friend had a similar problem... went to jiggle wires around... and a few wires pulled right out of their connectors becasue they corroded away inside the plug
