ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Damn, I just did mine a couple of days ago. I didn't think to take pics.

It's honestly not that hard though; just unhook the PCV and breather hose, take off the spark plug boots(try to keep them in order), take of the 4 10mm valve cover bolts and one 10mm ground bolt; remove VC(may require some prying); make sure seal surfaces are clean and you can use a bit of oil, replace the seals(tip for the valve cover seal; press on it starting from the middle. do not slide your fingers across it); reinstall and be sure not to overtighten the valve cover bolts(I use a nut driver just in case instead of a ratchet).

alright, last question. i have oil all over all 4 tubes and inside spark plug chambers. is it necessary for me to pull the camshaft and replace the lower seals? could i get away with just replacing the valve cover gasket and upper seals? or do i have to replace the lower seals also?

Well it's the rocker assembly that has to be pulled, not the cam, but replacing just the uppers, in all likelihood, will not fix the problem.

Most of the time its the lower tube seals. Most people look at what they have to go through and say screw it ill just leave those alone. If you are going to do tube seals you need to do them right and do the lowers too. I also wanna ask if your car has a slight skip at lower rpms. My middle tubes are drenched and I think its causing a misfire.

It honestly should not take long at all.

it doesnt really "skip", just when im idling, it idles real rough, and some times shudders a bit, almost likes its gonna stall.

Also, another question. i wanna do this right, but i have only a ft-lb torque wrench at school, u know, the ones you torque tires with usually. do i need an in-lb torque wrench for when a put the rocker arm assembly back in? or can i just tighten them without one?

That should b plenty if you know your way around the motor. Just dissassembling everything shouldn't take longer 10-15mins. What you can do is buy or check out a manual and study it for a bit so you know what to look for.

alright, but, do i really need an in-lb torque wrench? cuz all i have is a ft-lb torqoue wrench that use for tires. cant i just tighten the bolts on the cam and stuff until its tight?
