ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Gutting it creates a spacer... longer runners are usually best for low end power. If you want to remove it, you're better off getting an F22A1 intake manifold instead.

Why do you want to remove the IAB plate? Why not just keep it intact and functional?

I'm thinking taking the IAB plate completely out, would cause a tad of restriction, since adding an additional spacer (double stack), creates more power. I'd just keep it the way it is like Deev stated, or just gut it and keep it in.

Restriction? You'd be removing a restriction by taking it out.

Get around it? What do you mean? Do you know what the IAB system is?
It's a secondary set of intake runners, blocked off by "butterflies" (throttle-body-like valves/plates) At a certain RPM, they open, providing more airflow capacity for the intake manifold. To remove the plate, or gut it, you're essentially leaving the secondary runners open all the time, which will cause a loss in low end power, but open up a bit of power in the top end.

Correct. The F22A4 does not have that system. You can add it by using the manifold from an F22A6, or better yet, an H23A1. You'll need the PT6 ECU and the "black box" that controls it.

You cannot put the H23 plenum on the A4 runners. Only the A6 runners. And yes, the box operates the IAB system. You will need that box if you add the system, regardless of how you do it.

I recently completed my IM, A6 runners w/ H series plenum, maxbore t/b, bisimoto IM gasket, some port work, other extras. Sat the plenum right on the runners, no IAB plate. Did lose some low end but did gain some in the mid-high end. Anxious to see what the motor does once it's got it's camshaft, header and 2.5" mandrel exhaust plus w/ tuning.

For your project, I myself would delete the IAB plate entirely.

So if I took my IAB plate out of my intake manifold, I'd gain or lose? The longer the runners are, the more power you'd gain, correct? Longer runners, would be adding an additional plate.

If you take the plate out, to where the plenum's sitting right on the manifold, wouldn't that restrict? I should try this out.
