ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

If you want to go cheap, get KYB GR2 struts and some springs made by Eibach, Tein, H&R, or Neuspeed. A used set of springs by those quality makers would be better than brand new garbage.

Also, don't forget to get a camber kit, and have your wheels aligned... or you'll be buying new tires VERY quickly. Replace any worn suspension components while you're at it as well... ball joints are VERY important, and if the boots are ripped, they need to be replaced. A failed ball joint can kill you.

where can i get some used springs? and usually how much these go for used?

i just replaced my upper control arms front and back and let me tell yah...those things were beyond finish. it was do bad on one of them that the metal inside the balljoint started to deform. i dont think they had ever been changed.

do you know how to get the steering knuckle off to replace the lower ball joint?

You need a ball joint seperator to do the lower ball joint. There are a number of DIY methods posted here on the forum.

As for used springs, check ebay and craigslist. Springs aren't all that expensive brand new, so used should be affordable. If you can't afford quality suspension and brake components... don't touch those things.

I just mean to pop it out of the knuckle.

To press it in... yes... a socket and a vise.

Thanks for the info about the struts. I'm now looking at something like this:
            http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KYB-G...3A1|240%3A1318
The price is not outrageous, but that package doesn't include springs. I was trying to keep it under $300 total, so does anyone have a set of old springs laying around?

Don't try to buy anything in the Beginner Forums. It will get you banned from this site. Please read the rules.

A new set of quality springs would run you about $150. Perhaps it would be a good idea to save a little more and raise your budget by $100.

You also have to consider other suspension components (such as a camber kit... DO NOT cheap out here... I did, and I nearly crashed because I got a Dropzone kit...) and an alignment.

Suspension modification, done safely and effectively (as in, having a ride that doesn't suck) is not a cheap or simple matter. Especially on our ancient cars. The newest of CB7s are old enough to get a driver's license themselves!

i got some OBX coilovers that are suprisingly not bad at all that ride very nicely on my kyb GR2S. i have also the camberkit to. just throwing that out there. DROPzone, no Good! Had them on my 94 4 dr civic, no good, trust me!

OBX is still a knockoff brand. Their stuff is better than most in the cheapie market, but I'd still avoid them. Quality isn't so incredibly expensive that it's worth risking safety.

And a good set of properly matched full coilovers, not just sleeves, is only about $600.

well my crx is on a full tein dampner kit and my accord is on the obx's. the quality for the price is by far amazing. How is OBX a knockoffbrand? Im using there intake manifold also and it free'd up power on my b series setup. Oh well, everyone has there own opinion i guess.

Well OBX is considered a "knock-off" company because just like companies like Megan racing, etc., they copy the design of other popular products and market it as there own with lesser quality and alot cheaper prices.

ive had really really good luck with my gr-2s and used progress lowering springs with a ebay front end rebuild kit.

all i can tell you is to listen to these guys, i know my next set up will be function and form coil overs.

fairly easy as long as you have the right tools for the job and some mechanical background. if you do not know what you are doing i suggest getting help from someone that knows what they are doing. i think you can rent spring compressors for like 5-10 from local auto stores.
