ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Header qualifies for replacement?

Well, I took off my heat shield for the first time on this car and this is what caught my eye first - a crack on the header.
You can see it lower left on this image

So... does it qualify the header for replacement? What are the dangers/discomforts of running a cracked header?

    hmm..... F22A2

Well, if you have a cracked manifold then i would suggest replacing it with another OEM manifold or an A4 header. that would be the cheapest route and the A4 gives you just as much hp as most aftermarket headers. Minus the high end $500+ ones.

Plus you won't have to worry about it anymore.

Yeah... A2... the weird spec Accord as it should be known as :P

So I gather this one is done for then...

Anyhow, as this car (and this particular one above all) is very rare in the EU, parts aren't as easy to come by as in the US, so my only choice is a direct OEM replacement, an A4 as you suggest (with all the madness that will go into convincing any Honda garage to sell me the part because they will follow my VIN no. and will go "But sir, this is not for your car!"), or a DC sports header (because it is the only aftermarket part available here...)

At least I got my rusted old heat shield painted

Weld it? That would be the CHEAPEST route. Although im not sure how well it will hold up. Is that a cast A6 manifold? If so, you can use the A2, A4, or A6, and just get new gaskets. Other route would be buying an aftermarket set.

Welding sounds like a nice cheap option but indeed how long will it hold. I'd just move square one ahead in time...
I'll call Honda tomorrow and see how the prices go. I need a tune up anyway.

Welding cast iron seems too much effort.

Hope you can get a replacement part. Almost everyone here probably has a spare, but shipping fees would probably be ridiculous, coz it's heavy as hell.

I love your car, btw! I wonder why...

Thanks lonski! I also wonder why

Shipping I can live with (barely) but not the customs and more tax...

Actually, come to think of it I wanted to change the header for a long time, but nothing justified getting an expensive header just for a few ponies.
Now though... hey, I'm beginning to look forward to a deeper growl of my little CB7 money pit

have a A4 shipped out to poland. im sure you can find someone that will sell it cheap enough that if you fork the money for shipping, it would be worth it.

I called Honda today and they're gonna see how bad it is...
BTW... could a cracked header cause high fuel consumption?

                            Possibly, yes.

If some how air was getting into the crack instead of getting pushed out, it would cause your o2 sensor to read lean, which would in turn cause the car to attempt to add more fuel. If you pull your plugs and they are black, I would say this is a definite possibility.

Ah! Well, the joke is that this model is not equipped with an O2 sensor...
Instead there is an IMA - Idle Mixture Adjuster...

see my post where I learned this the long way :P
