ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Caliper slider pin problem

This is the second time in about a year when I went to remove one of the slider pins on the DS front caliper it is bent. How is this possible and what could be causing this ?

    TIA

The slider pin...caliper bolt holds the caliper to the caliper bracket

I did the brakes last year and last weekend I had to replace a wheel bearing.

hmmm... I had a similar problem. Never quite figured it out. I got some new pins from the Jy, cleaned the caliper pin holes, applied anti sieze on the pins, reinstalled and it has not happened again. Just remember if you have akebono calipers use the pins off akebono. Same with nissin.

Anti-seize? Never. You should be using the proper lube for caliper pins. Make sure you get the right stuff, it should be easy to push and pull the pin, you shouldnt have to haul on it.

the bore is too big? allowing the pin to bend like that?

new rotor and pads im assuming? whats the condition of the piston?

New rotors and pads put on last year and I had to replace one of the slider pins, no leaking or anything like that brakes work great , I just had to change the wheel bearing and the pin was bent again, inside pad was worn badly becuse slider pin being bent and not letting the pad release completely.

Almost sounds like the piston is on an angle, not allowing it to re-tract, thus bending the pins in an odd way, and eating away the pads. I would re-check those calipers. If they are original ones, you may be due for a caliper change anyways.

                      Fit seems good.

Might have to if this happens again, i'll recheck the pad and pin in a month.
