ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

the dohc f22b heads are a direct swap onto a f22a since they are essentially the same bottom ends.

Can you do a F22B head on a F22A and keep the F22a ecu? What all is involved with the swap?

The F22B DOHC makes 160hp, and most people do retain the F22A ECU.

The SOHC F22B heads are garbage.

the f22b dohc is 160, but it wont make that on a f22a bottom, cuz the compression is less. it would be a better gain still though over a f22ax though.

and yes deever said it best, f22b (cd5 heads) are garbage.

What's the compression on the F22B DOHC? Is that due to the pistons or the head?
People keep saying that the F22B and F22A bottom ends are the same, but does that only refer to the way the block and head mate up?

If the F22B DOHC pistons give higher compression, that could be something for the F22A guys to look into as a performance mod! Then again, if you're replacing pistons, why use old, used pistons when there are better aftermarket pieces that can be custom made to any application...

the specs for the F22B are listed here^^. I just had this thread going about 2 days ago with a poll on it. I have learned alot through the research I have done and came to a conclusion yesterday so, good luck with your decision.

So with a F22B head, on a F22A1 block & internals, what sort of gains would that net?

technically you wouldnt gain anything more than a regular f22b. if you milled the head, did a competition valve job and delta cams, you could probably see 20hp with a tune.

mill .030 and gain half a point of compression, you'll almost be to 10.1

                              So, about 20hp with just a F22B head, on a F22A1 block?
About 45hp with the whole motor swap, give or take a bit?
