ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

'91 accord, exhaust and starting problems

    Heres the dealio.

like the title says i have a '91 accord with 240k+ miles on it and i love it to death there is just a few problems. mainly, it wont start at random times. usually when there is a change in weather, there for leading me to think its the oil temp sensor (i know jack about cars, im probably wrong)
what happens is the engine wont turn over for about 5 or so sounds (dont know how to describe the sounds that make a car start) and then it tries to turn over, but fails. my remedy for now is spraying starter fluid in the air intake and it usually starts right up.
the exhaust problem is a little more important. you know that joint by the back right tire that holds the exhaust to the muffler? well, the exhaust isnt attached to that any more. im not sure i NEED a muffler due to me being a poor college student.
it is going in the shop tomorrow for a mechanic to look at it and just wondering what all of your takes on it are so i have some idea on what needs to happen to what.

any insight or thoughts are very much appreciated.
    ~thanks alot~

    1st the starting problem:

When it takes longer to start your car it usually the main relay thats under the dash on the driver side. That main relay also has the fuel pump relay built inside. You can either replace it with one from the J-Yards or open it up yourself and resolder ALL of the solder connections on the ckt. board. Im about 89% positive that might be your problem.

    2nd the muffler issue:

I think it would be more beneficial for you to have the muffler shop take care of that situation unless you have a welding machine laying around.

so the metal pipe had become detatched from the muffler? you will hopefully be able to get it re-welded up for the cheap, way cheaper than buying a muffler or cat-back for sure. then again if the pipe is detached due to rust, the muffler maybe too far gone to bother repairing.

or is the rubber hanger just toasted and the piping hanging loose off the bottom of the car? in which case they usually sell universial replacement hangers at autostores like autozone or checkers
